Cannot remember how much we paid for a 907 last year in France, but I paid £10.15 yesterday for a refill in Britain

we take a 907 abroad with us "just in case" but have never needed it.  However, if you do need it you can connect it via the bar b q socket (if your van has one).  All you need to do is make up a length of pipe with a camping gas regulator on one end, and a bar b q "plug" on the other.

I have tested this and it works just fine.

I have seen this done with a large Propane bottle and would do it myself in an emergency.

can't see what the safety difference is between gas coming out to the bar b q and in to the caravan, providing you turn off the empty bottles in the locker.

I have never got near running out on the continent, and so have never needed to do this "for real", but if I did run out, I wouldn't hesitate.

Be nice to be able to get away long enough to run out !

Me neither but these days new vans come with the regulator mounted on the bulkhead and new regulations apply

The new reulators are prone to clogging up as has been said on other threads.

Using the BBQ point and external bottle/regulator is a way out of freezing to death but forbidden !!
