We sat through the shows blissfully unaware of what was going on, it really is a visual treat, don't think the narrative is that important really? This is one of the best family days out we have ever had, and we will certainly be returning some time soon now that the children are a couple of years older.

Our 3 yr old absolutely loved the day shows - each one surpassing the last. We saw the "bird show" first. Wow.
Then we saw the gladiators. Wow! Then the jousting. WOW! and then the Vikings. WOW!!!!!! (watch out for singed eyebrows if you are at the front)
We all want to go back.

Claire,

she'll love it. Just take my word for it. We've had guests here that all get the recommendation from us, whatever the kid's ages. DO NOT miss the Puy du Fou. It's a spectacle that a child of 5 will be amazed by! If she doesn't like it, I'll give you her entrance fee back!

Might hold you to that Stu! just need to persuade Jason now - he can play golf if we go to Puy de Fou. sounds like a fair offer i think, Claire

We absolutely loved Puy du Fou !

We wish we could go again! We took our 4 yr old and 12 yr old and they both loved it! There was no way that our little one was ever bored, even though he couldn,t understand what they were saying....it didn,t matter as  the shows were just so exciting...we videoed as much of it as we could and the kids will often re-play the tape. Our 12 old has shown all his friends and they think it,s fantastic! It was one of the highlights of our trip.

We got 2 translators, which my husband and eldest son used for the musketeers, but they stopped using them halfway through the show as they found them to be a bit distracting,so I,d save your money and we hope you have a fantastic time there....I,m so jealous! LOL

Cheers Mel

We're thinking of going there next summer. It sounds absolutely great and the website looks fandabbydoozy. I only noticed where it says Forum codes today. Has it always said that?

We've been a couple of times and enjoyed both, despite our French not being too strong. The details of the stories are hard to follow but the entertainment is mainly visual and hugely spectacular. The birds are brilliant no matter what language they fly in.

The last time we bought translators. they are small radios tuned to a commentary in a specific language. (I've seen similar things at rugby matches to listen to the referees comments.) We didn't find them too useful as the music and noise of the shows is often quite overwhelming.

The evening show is spectacular but quite lengthy... a good cushion is a must.  We went with a French speaker who said that the commentary was quite poetic and lyrical, though I'm not sure how that would come across in translation.

We didn't visit last year so haven't seen the Musketeer show, but I've been told that was rather more "wordy".  The whole day however is a great experience. We travelled a long way to see it and it was well worth it.

Do you know.... we've never been to see the Puy de Fou - we've been to the Vendee for the past 5 years.  Always intended to go but - too busy doing nothing to go.  I'm told that to see the day and the evening 'spectacles' on the same day is too much.  Any excuse not to go again this year..........
