It was a one-off year and whilst like any other hot area they can have the odd brush fire in summer, the French Pompiers (fire brigade) are very on the ball and do an excellent job.

It certainly shouldn't put anyone off.

Hi Jojo5

I havent heard of him,but its a big site.I just wondered what area of the site you are at  eg:Les Iris,Les Arbousiers etc...if it was near to ours.

Our van is about 15 years old and we have to change it this year so we have bought a brand new one for 2008 season, which will be at Holiday Green for September.

Hope you have a lovely holiday

mandy

We are staying at the top in H Les Bruyeresrow row number 1. Is that anywhwere near your mobil. If we like the site we will certainly return and would be interested in a bigger mobil.

Can you give advies on where the nearest supermarket is?

Thanks

Regards Jo

Hi Jo

Les Bruyeres is right at the bottom of the site not the top,but you are nearer the pool and a communal shower block. Our van is  B220 Les Arbousiers,it will be on your left hand side as you drive round the site before you get to yours, have a look at where we are,we have a red sign on the end with Sam and Mandy Williams on it so you cant miss it really.

We are putting an 8 berth brand new one on for next season ,have a look at what weve ordered:

The nearest mini supermarket is the 'Leaderprice',if you mail me I will give you directions to all the supermarkets if you like(not that I shop alot)ha ha ha ...

Just drop me an e-mail ,my details are all on our website(see below)

Just for clarity - which site? La Baume or Holiday Green as we seem to have both discussed in this thread.

Thanks

La baume, quite a while ago (1999) but the mossies were awful and the French teenagers worse,I was very lucky as most of the neighbours in my vicinity had video cameras etc nicked. They seemed to target mainly mobile homes so be careful.

Maybe i was just unlucky but I do have bad memories of La baume and wild horses would not drag me back.

Love the area though, especially the grand canyon de verdon.

I think things must have imporved since you visited. We've been twice in 2002 & 2003 and had no problems with theft or teenagers - although in an evening we stayed away from the La Baume bar complex which seemed more "club house" than La Palmerie.

I remember using citronela candles but not any really serious problems with mossies - however that changes year on year anyway.

We haven't seen the Grand Canyon de Verdon but it sounds good from a quick google - thats added to this years list.
