Pager33 there is a site with a big pool complex On the route de la Fouasse where you used to be able to buy a 'band' for unlimited day entry.  OR  --- - if you fancy a really long day out there is a really big one just outside Arcachon.  We did the journey there several times when our kids were young.  Early start 7 am ish and a good picnic and drinks day at the park - back at around 8-9pm.

Hi, we've done the water park at Arcachon and it was fab, so may do that one. Or may spend a day at Camping Les Mathes as they (used to) to day-passes. As we are going in the latter half of August, I'm hoping things will be a bit quieter in the area. Bonn Anse Plage used to do day-passes too, but that might have changed due to Siblu. When do you go pager33, we're off 13th August?

only 4 weeks till we go!! woo hoo lol

Am taking lots of food and stuff with us so that we only buy fresh food and booze.

Then taking £50 per day,I take the euros in cash, thats for shopping and fuel (petrol) will have our debit card for emergency. Was worried it wouldn't be enough but after reading other threads seems similar to everyone else, there's only us and 4 yr old so don't spend a bomb, happy to relax with a wine or two and BBQ, really cant wait

hi askhill, we're off on the 14th August arriving at our site L'Oree du Bois on the 21st for 10 days. Were really tempted by Logis de Breuil and if we hadnt had the motorhome we would probably have booked there. I think it was the lack of motorhomes on site comment by another poster that put me off. We're hoping the pool at L'Oree will amuse our 10 year old and we've even got our own sanitary facs as well. We plan to visit Logis for a nosey around!!

Hi pager, we're there from 13th-30th August, which is quite unusual for us as we normally go straight when school finishes, ie 22nd July-8th August. However, this year we needed to sort out the caravan and time was slipping away from us, so we decided to go later. It will be strange, as most of our friends are still going earlier so will assume we've gone elsewhere this year. We'll be on pitch M7 so be sure to come and say hello!

I would also recommend Nationwide cards for European travel. I use my debit card to withdraw small amounts of cash from cash machines in France at a very favourable rate and I use my Nationwide credit card just for holidays. As already suggested, if you know how much your budget is and keep a note of all thetransactions you make, there is no need to go into debt. Another way of saving is to avoid French motorways and therefore tolls. We only do the firat part of our journey by motorway to get a few quick miles behind us. Travelling on French main roads is a piece of cake and very enjoyable.

Ww try and work a cash economy - €100 per day.  It;s hard to budget etc... as self catering you neverr really know - and I hate to scrimp etc... when abroad.  The boyz can spend €20 in the slot machines of a night... :(
