Now now.......... A lavitorial thread???? Having never been to the Dordogne I cant say but as a lover of France as a whole "children in the Dordogne" can never be a lavitorial thread lol.

How did we get on the subject hahaha.

So, what have i learnt from this.............Dont go to the toilet for a "morning poo" as every man on the site will be doing the same, and i put my toilet roll down the loo not on the floor in case a man wants to use the ladies when there is a que in the mens! Hahahahaha.

So a little update on the site dilema. I have emailed Soleil plage and been told i can provisionally book a pitch but NOT riverside unless out of peak season. So that is an option, but i have also contacted Les Peneyrals and asked the same. Awaiting a reply. Does anyone have any experience of contacting this site?

We have only ever booked through eurocamp independant, select sites and c&cc or cc.

Think im going to get a complex now as my friend tells me that no matter what the subject ends up on poos (she said its to do with my job but im begining to wonder!)

I emailed Les Peneyrals about a week ago and haven't received a reply. I emailed Soleil Plage yesterday and haven't heard back so far. Le Paradis replied within a day of my email, saying that I could book now and pay the deposit in Jan.

Thanks for that. I'm still looking though. Now looking for one on a nice riverbeach. I like the look of St avit losiers but from what I can see it's not near the river. Arrrgggghhhhh why do I want so much from a holiday lol. I know I can get it, just need to keep looking!

What about the Ardeche? (Just to throw a complete spanner in the works). Lots of sites with lovely river beaches there. Take a look at

Les Peneyrals are slow to respond to emails and often you are best to resend them. Soleil Plage usually answer in 2-3 days.

Hi cheri889

Its Cheryl here!! we visited St Avit loisirs whilst there this year, its a Castels site and had a fantastic pool complex, we were very impressed and it is a better pool area than SP, however, its in the middle of nowwhere and touring pitches were not as nice as alot were on a slope. Le Buge is the nearest town to it about 5kms which is lovely, its on the river Vierze (or something like that??) so not on the Dordogne river. I didnt think this area was as nice as Sarlat area and not as pretty so thats the reason we didnt book for 2013, however, it has an indoor pool which was gorgeous, fab toddlers pool area prob the best ive ever seen! the site was really nice but I felt the pool area was just too big and spread out on 2 levels, it was also mega busy all you could where bodies in the water and I struggled to see my girls in the main pool. It was also more expensive than SP but they were taking bookings for 2013, we took our friends over for a look at it and they didnt like it as much as SP due to the pitches and location.

Its really hard making decisions thats why im so glad Iv rebooked SP as I know where we are going and what its like for next year, I can see us going there for a few years and I feel abit of a saddo saying that as I like to try different places.

As for the unisex toilets! it made me laugh reading that post!! every site we have stayed on in France has had unsiex showers etc and this doesnt bother us one bit. the shower block at SP is the best one iv seen in France and one of them are new. In fact I think this is better for families as you can all go in together and share the  task of showering the kids and preventing one falling and banging their heads!! we dont really use showers on sites especially when we are all service, we use our own shower in the van, but I did go in and inspect them for my review and I used the washing machine which are located in these shower blocks.

Happy hunting and I hope you get sorted and you love where you end up.

Cheryl & Mark :)
