Have you had a look at Camping Les Druides in Carnac. We stayed there last June for a few days. Nice basic pool (no slides etc) super toilets and really well laid out pitches. The best bit is that its only 500 metres from the superb beaches at Carnac and a similar distance from a decent Super-U.

Your better bet would be to stop on a camping municipal a few miles inland of the coast & drive to the beach. Usually free parking in smaller French coastal towns & even if you do pay its a fraction of UK prices.

Example this site inland of Carnac works out at about £340 for 2dults/3 kids+electric for 14nts in August.

Another one in the area even cheaper here
