I don’t know if you have found anywhere yet but if you can’t find anywhere in The Dordogne how about Camping Le Teday at Le Moutchic near Lacanau Ocean. This is my joint first campsite and it’s 34 euros a night pitch + 2 + electric.
It’s lakeside, gently shelving warm lake suitable for children good beach nearby in Le Moutchic with restaurants. On site good shop and takeaway food. Creperie and bar.
7km from Lacanau ocean which has everything.
It’s 30kms west of Bordeaux and is a great area for cycling.
Will be there for the 2nd time this year on Sept 1st.

Passed both the other day and both appeared to have ample vacancies (pre Dutch invasion). Both extremely handy for shopping in Cenac / Gourdon - St M de N has a bakers and a bar / cafe doing meals more or less opposite Le C on the main road.

The area is very popular with caravanners from the Netherlands. They come throughout the season but first two weeks in August appear to be the most popular for them - certainly families.

I'm pretty sure you'll find a pitch at one of the sites without any trouble. Sites seem a little emptier than usual for late July - maybe extreme high temperatures (now over) deterred people or they headed for somewhere cooler eg Brittany.

ps did you have a look at La Bouysse, the site I mentioned in my first post on this thread?
