We are heading for the Auvergne from Zeebrugge this June.
Thinking of using the Francilienne (A/N 104) south of Paris.
Any comments?

The outer Francillienne ring road is very convoluted.

My choice would be to approach Paris on tne A1 and after the airport turn off following signs saying Bordeaux etc. It's the middle Paris ring road, initially the A3 and then the A86 - but trust the Bordeaux signs until they switch to saying Orleans and Clermont Ferrand.

Travel on a Sunday.

Thanks. Travelling on a Monday, the ferry's booked. But I'm on my motorbike, so not towing. Its more a matter of the congestion.

Oh dear, Mondays anywhere near Paris will be busy - I was hoping you could miss HGV's by going on a Sunday. Take care.

Thanks. Maybe I'll do a bit and then head South and the West via Sens. The Rouen route just adds on too many miles.

I've done the "follow Bordeaux from just after the airport route" a number of times by car - and even on a Monday not too bad if you hit Paris around 12:30 - 1pm.

Even these days a fair number of "routiers" will stop for a lunch break.

Route sorted. I will leave the A1 before the airport and head south via Meaux to overnight at Sens. Then west on the A19 to pick up the A71 at Orleans.
That should avoid the worst of it.

Seems a reasonable compromise if you intend to overnight at Sens - although if you go a few miles further west round Paris on the A86 to the North of Orly Airport you can pick up the A10 and overnight around Orleans in pretty much the same timeframe.
