It will ok till the first person is refused entry into an EU counties then all hell will be let loose with people saying that they were not told. Well it's still up to each person to decide what's right for them.

My daughter dogs passport have got lamented rabies stickers in them as well as our dog and these were done over 100 miles apart so who knows who is right.

Can of worm alert!

As a dog owner, I fail to see why you would want your holiday routine based around your dog! We have never, or will ever, take our dog with us when traveling to the Continent. Simply don’t see the point.

OK, both our adult kids have dogs, and are more than happy to look after ours, so it’s easy. I have heard dog campers say “Alfie loves his holidays” no he doesn’t, he couldn’t give a damn wether it’s France, the Peak District or in our case, Dartmoor, as long as he gets a run and you feed him, that’s all he wants.

That may be true but some of us do not have the luxury of relatives being able to care for our pets. Putting our dogs and cats into kennels for a month would cost us in excess of £1300 therefore cheaper to take the dogs along.

I appreciate that Ian, that’s why I made a point of it. 👍

Dreading next year regarding dogs and cats as we are off to South Africa for about 4 weeks and before we even buy the air tickets the cost of the kennels will be setting us back almost as much as both air tickets! Then you have car hire and accommodation. However the bonus is probably 4 weeks fo hot sunshine and plenty of BBQs!

Worth every penny, an amazing country. Been twice and love SA. 👍😀

There is no ambiguity, the rules are clearly laid out for anyone to read.
OVs in the UK can also enter details, such as rabies vaccination boosters or of tapeworm treatment (if appropriate), in a
passport issued in another EU country.
If the rabies vaccination record is a sticker, it must be covered by a laminated strip (included with the pet passport)
In new style pet passports, the OV stamp must not be used in this section. The OV should sign in this section and must enter
their name, address, telephone number and SP number. A stamp with these details can be used.

Just to add fuel to the fire' when I adopted a dog in Turkey (unlisted country) to get the dog into the UK, there was a blood test (full report from the government approved lab) after the rabies jab, and the tapeworm treatment.
This was not recorded in an EU pet passport because Turkey obviously not being in the EU didn't issue them!
I suppose the question I am asking is if you have documentary proof etc from professionally qualified vet, duly stamped etc is it absolutely neccessary that this is in a pet passport?
My dog came into the UK no problem.
Is the pet passport just a convenience?
I ask because I don't know the answer!
