i really do believe that to go against foreign office is selfish and foolish. So many people are carriers of covid, who are asymptomatic but will be spreading the virus. Also, if you crash, fall, break a leg, you have no cover, you could be facing an extremely expensive medical bill, with no repatriation costs covered.
I would suggest to those planning on travelling, to review their plans and at least wait until the green light is given from the foreign office.

There are no restrictions on thousands of Goods vehicles crossing multiple borders daily, any of whom may be carriers.
There are a lot of UK tourists who travel abroad without insurance in normal times Covid-19 is just another risk.

Covid is just another risk, therefore if asked not to travel, then dont.
Its really not a difficult rule to follow.
Travel will be reinstated soon enough.
Death by Covid, is not nice, i can assure you

They shut the site for March to do the toilet block and you know what happened in March. The main building work is done, but the second fix needs doing. We have use of a studio, will be quite disappointed when the toilet block is finished, studio is very nice. Still Billy no mates.

Thanks for the reply sort of second guessed sods law would apply but Studio will do us just fine, just realised that we live not far from you.

We are getting nervous due to arrive 10th July but waiting for the green light from UK & French Governments.

At the moment we cannot even arrange Red Pennant Insurance as it is not available from Caravan Club.

The weather looks good for you and if all goes well plenty of campers coming your way in July
Cheers

My travel insurance “Cedar tree”emailed me today To advise I will be covered and cover is extended to cover claims arising from Covid, which is nice.

In the case that travel insurance is invalid where FCO advises against all but essential travel why do my insurance company still offer cover? And when I have traveled to Israel and FCO have advised against travel does that mean I wasn’t covered? It’s a good job I didn’t need to use it I guess?

Red pennant could be a problem but if I can’t find an alternative I will go without.

I would not be comfortable without Insurance cover for breakdown etc from a company I know and trust.

I come from an insurance claims background that is what makes so nervous about insurance companies.

Cheers

We went to France for many years from 1978 when we were 18, without any travel insurance whatsoever apart from continental break down cover for the car.

But when we hit 50 in 2010, we decided it was time to take out holiday insurance, at just £25 for couples cover, whatever had we been thinking.

we came over on the 15th - the day restrictions were lifted. NO PAPERWORK needed not even the eurotunnel suggestion.

french border control asked where we were going, i said the vendee, he said 'nice, enjoy your holiday'

no mention of restrictions or paperwork etc passed gendarmes at the tolls, who saw us and ignored us completely

we have been here almost a week now, everywhere is slowly opening up getting ready for the season - so if what we have seen is anything to go by, then get your crossings booked asap !

OK lots of questions for you lovely people already in France!
we are in our 70s, in a camper van with no toilet facilities at the moment...wanting to have a belated French camping trip going inAugust. Apparently that is now ok ,news last night.
Would you advise getting simple portaloo/pop up loo tent?
Are facilities on campsites, in your opinion, cleaned more than in previous years? Is social distancing something that takes place on camp sites/ in facilities?
We love French markets, are these socially distanced? We have masks and wear them here so they're not a problem.
Also our health insurance, through our bank ,so far have said they do not cover Covid but may get further instructions if Government relax travel rul,Es, which of course they have now.
What are ferries like for travel at the moment? We have refund credit voucher for Brittany ferries and would have a cabin for night crossing outward and may get one for return afternoon crossing.
Thanks for your help, really want to be in France!!
