Going to De Twee Bruggen Holland  for a week to air the tent. Then off to bavaria in the summer.

LOL! I thought you'd say that! Ours is a Sunncamp ... same sort of thing as yours. I always think it'd be fun to have a "proper" tent, but it wouldn't be that practical. I had a good look at those gorgeous Dutch tents but there's almost no space at all for sitting around in bad weather. And they cost about a grand!

have a good holiday!

Liz

I’ve just seen that thread about the Dutch tents.  They are gorgeous and I find myself suffering a severe case of lust in their presence.

I suppose there is a non-practical side to canvas tents - in the rain especially – ours is small enough to dry in the living room or over the rotary washing line at home if we have to. Even as and when we can afford to upgrade to a medieval pavilion (which do have space to sit inside and can be bought for around £600) we’ll still hang on to the small tent so we have an alternative if the weather forecast for a weekend is a soggy one.

Must…stop.. derailing the thread!  (Sorry)

I hope you also have a lovely holiday. J

We're going to Sequoia Parc in Marrennes at the end of July. This will be the 2nd year on the trot as we loved it so much last year. We stop off at another Castels site near Le Mans on the way back.

You can fish in the Tarn, but will need a 'permis' - obtainable from the Tabac in the village, I think (or possibly from the site itself).  There are LOADS of fish visible from the canoe, but no-one seemed to catch any (even when we weren't canoeing by!!!).  Good fishing.

This trip'll be in the plastic tunnel tent (cheapy Eurohike jobby that surpisingly survived torential rain and high winds last summer!) - it's better for zipping out mosquitos and for having a bit of space in poorer weather.

We also have a cheap Eurohike tent (Grasmere) and cant fault it !

It kept out the worst and most persistent thunderstorm we have ever endured in Vias last September and has loads of room for bringing in the table and chairs when the weathre's bad. It also packs down small and fits in the boot no problem. It only cost £150 so even if it only lasts two or three seasons we rekon it's good value.

Off to Brittany for a week in May then 3 weeks touring in June/July - havent decided on where yet. Quite fancy Croatia but the distance puts us off plus the fact that EHIC and breakdown recovery isn't valid there.

Has anyone driven to Croatia ? How bad is the journey ?

Failing that we will probably go Alsace - Switzerland - Cote d'Azure - Languedoc - Auvergne - Home !
