Jennifernn, you might have hatched a plan, Vic you could always fly to La Rochelle, hire a car and then rent a mobile or chalet at Logis de Breuil. Plenty of people do this at Logis, especially those who store their caravans there. Bordeaux could be another airport option but a slightly longer drive. It was convenient when Rochefort airport was open.

Whatever you choose, have fun and enjoy your hols.

We have looked at this idea and at the time we like to go(in June) one of the two bedroom cottages at Logis would cost over €1000.00 for two weeks. Add flights and car hire over there plus airport parking in the UK and all the airlines' sneaky add-ons and it's comes out at well over a grand sterling and that's before any food or drink.

There was another guy from Ulster that I met who said he had found it cheaper to fly from his local airport to Paris, rent a car there and drive to Trinite sur Mer. That's of course when we were staying there. He then rented one of those funny little cottage style mobile homes. There was four in his party which made this part of the holiday and the car hire much cheaper. There is only ever two of us.

The areas we are going to in the UK are ones we know well and love, so we will not be spending several days finding our way around. We'll have our fingers on the pulse, so to speak, from the moment we arrive.

We like this concept.

Vic

Have you visited Scotland Vic? Easily achievable in 2 weeks, and an excellent contrast to Hertfordshire.

There are soooo many different areas to visit in UK. We are really spoilt with the choices we have at home. Despite wanting to see "EVERYTHING", we would not be unhappy to restrict ourselves to the UK.

Are you NT Members? Lots of lovely places to visit with them.   A wee tip....NT Scotland is cheaper to join than the main NT, and you still get full access in UK. We pay £55 for 2 seniors at present.

For those who get held up in traffic in this country, try travelling on a Sunday, especially on the M25 or around Birmingham, we find it makes a big difference.

Couldn't agree more. We tend to go off on a Sunday and return home on a Monday.

M25 is slowly improving. That quadrant of it from the M4 to Rickmansworth is now finished and they've got two fairly major bits from "Ricky" to the M1 and from just past the M11 to the A12. Have been through both bits in recent weeks and on a weekend they shouldn't hold any fears for anyone. Even came through the A12 to M11 section last Monday morning with absolutely no problems whatsoever. Problems seem to arise when you get a group of prats decide to play dodgems in the roadworks.......
