our experience_
St Cast Le Chatelet - nice small site near a beach (dont need to go via the clifftop !) - Canvas go there.
La Baie, Trinite Sur Mer - some small plots but ask for a big one and Keycamp are good there
Les Deux Fontaines, Nevez - lovely big site - not much in area but the most fantastic beaches - Pont Aven nice for a visit - Keycamp had slightly better plots than Eurocamp here
Pointe St Gilles, Benodet - Canvas mobile homes too cramped inside and out although the reps were good the year we went. This site had good entertainment and the pool has been redeveloped since we were, good playpark too. So its a good site but has a bit of a "Butlinsy" atmosphere and too large for my liking but has many good points.
La Garangeoire in the Vendee - perfect all round campsite with ponies, canoes, tennis, space, kids clubs, nice staff, lovely restaurant. Well worth a visit with young children and you can visit Puy du Fou theme park from here. Tents on this site were great - nice big plots to take your own or else Keycamp etc had ones. Keycamp had good mobile homes here or you could go with Les Castels but probably by far the best ones on this site were the Thomsons Al Fresco mobile homes ones but if you check they are even dearer than Keycamp/Eurocamp on this site but then you get what you pay for sometimes !
La Cote du Nacre - very near Caen ferry so good for an overnight stop. Do not stay with Canvas here - we were ripped off - tent was next to the canvas/keycamp reps party tents - nightmare - and we were paying for the pleasure ! Not too bad the next year when stayed with Keycamp and asked for a quieter spot but I dont really like this campsite
Domaine des Ormes - have heard its a bit busy - a smaller site may suit younger children. La Baie for example only had one small chute at the swimming pool so it was only younger children in the pool - no leaping teenagers !
If you are going to Italy have a look at Valle Gaia in Tuscany ! It looks nice. Some Italian sites are huge and I got a nasty bit from a mosquito there last time. Have a look at www.bestitaliancampsites.com
