There was an program about insurance some years ago. One of the insurance guys said that whenever a camera was stolen on holiday it was usually an expensive model by Nikon, Canon etc. and not the usual cheap snapshot variety. The companies know that most claims are embellished but just lump the risk on everyones policy renewals.

Two things about cameras
Thieves are more likely to take an expensive camera
People are less likely to claim for just a lost cheap camera
so I can understand why a disproportionately large % of cameras reported 'lost' are expensive ones.
There are a lot more cheap cameras around than expensive cameras.
The insurance industry experts know a lot more about their work than you or I.
Another thing he said was that there must be a huge plot of land with tens of thousands of old motors in it.
They know there are dishonest claims and that old bangers are 'stolen' to order and disposed of. They are not that naive. Same with whiplash claims. Lying to insurance companies seems to be fair game in a lot of peoples minds.

So why do the NHS spent a good chunk and people spend a good chunk of both there lives and cash training to be anaesthetists when they could just recruit a few criminals at a fraction of the cost??
You are all so cynical. A collection of Rolex and £2200 in cash was stolen whilst we slept in an Aire, well actually it was £2000 in cash but my excess was £200 and why should i be out of pocket when I've shelled out £50 for an insurance policy (rip off insurance companies)
The insurance accessor was brilliant though, he was so understanding and sympathetic when I told him that they even had my gold fillings away as well!
Its only a matter of time before someone loses their life from over gassing! Actually the first case would have been this July had i known its only £120 for half a million of life cover!
Im off canoeing now folks....... Oh has that one been done?

£2000 seems to be a common amount - could that happen to be the maximum amount that insurance companies will pay out for loose cash. I am sure this isn't the case as anybody claiming would realise that it looks suspicious carrying the exact maximum.
