I have always used Garmin satnav's over the years, my latest one is of 2015 vintage purchased from Aldi £79.99 Nuvi LMT 55 Western Europe with Life Time maps.
And I have to say it has been brilliant, especialy whilst in France for 3 weeks back in 2015.
Then my replacement company car rolls up, and guess what the thing has built in satnav, which of course displays on large central screen, and within the instrument binnacle.
The satnav in the VW Golf 2017 (July) must have mapping that is a year or so out of date compared to my Garmin, but the ease of use of built in just means I use it all the time.
I will speak to the dealership when it goes in for it's first service, regards updating the mapping, which appears to be on an SD card,I have only done 10k miles so far, so maybe next year before I can get it updated if at all.
