I just priced Irish Ferries for a four hour crossing from Ireland to Wales and that came out at €593 so I would be delighted to pay £78 to go to France. Guess I will have to save up my Tesco Vouchers as well.
I agree. The crossings from Ireland to Britain are a ridiculous price, compared to any of the prices you all are getting.
Historically we need to thank the now defunct Speedferries single catamaran operation for the low Dover fares we have now. They came in, slashed prices & the large operators had to follow suit, but inevitably they went the way of Laker airways.
Yrs ago Dover/Calais was referred to as the most expensive stretch of water in the world.
Booked it!! I went on DFDS live chat and explained that it wont allow me to book a caravan over 8 metres, he told me to refresh my browser which I did and retry it, it worked!
Its cost £59 each way for a caravan over 5 metres which is still a saving of £32 on original price of £150.00 and its for half term wk. Not as cheap as this years prices but still a lot cheaper than P&O and the tunnel which is £286 return for our dates. We will use our Tescos rewards for the theme parks or trips in Paris.
Thanks again Val
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

sorry meant up to 8 metres!

I agree the cost of £118 is still a mega bargain for peak season, I think people tend to forget that after paying very low prices such as £62 return which is what we paid for this years crossings!
I just wish the tunnel would do offers as its so much easier using the tunnel.
I priced a crossing up last night for Hull-Rotterdam same time May ht and it was £880 return!
Well booked main summer break this morning and the crossing times where literally disappearing before my eyes!!! Got sorted eventually. Still a bargain at £98 for the time of year.
Going to book April/May trip this evening when dates are decided.
RANG the CC about Condor offer but they can't quote until 2nd December on that offer ( free van with 7 nights accommodation booked and free daytime cabin) which is Sundays only. SO decided to do the DFDS as we have done previously.

Just in case anyone is interested in the Hull/Rotterdam or Zeebrugge crossing, we have just booked a return (out April return August) for just under £350, including 7 Camping Cheques, via the caravan Club.
This is for a car, 8 metre caravan and 2 adults.
The trick is to purchase the 7 Camping Cheques, then the total package ends up cheaper than a ferry alone.
