We will be looking to stay in either one of these hotels mid May and then 30th May for one night each. Do you think we need to book these in advance or is it ok just to turn up?

You will probably be ok but it costs nothing to book in advance. They dont debit your card until you check in and you can cancel anytime up to 6pm on the day of arrival without charge.

I would agree that booking is a good idea. Although May is not the height of the tourist season, these hotels are also used quite extensively by business travellers, so can (depending upon the area) be quite busy all year round. It costs nothing to book and is very easy to do on the website!

Worth booking, as they do fill up with business travellers. We had to cancel a booking last year, phoned the hotel direct, no problem, no money taken.

You can book online and get a booking reference. If you have that, you can cancel online too, as Carol said, before 6pm no charge to your card.

Always book ahead just in case. I'd also recommend the Etap over the F1, it's worth the extra for the en-suite.

Agree with aahbarnes.  Etap in pref to Formule1.  Book - it just means it's nailed on and if you get there late - your room is still reserved.

The other thing is that the desks are not always manned 24/7. If you book, you can swipe your CC in the machine at the entrance an it gives you the entry code for your room.
