Hi All

We are going to Zagarella in August and were looking for a stopover on the A11 or A 87 just before or after Angers and on the way back a stopover on the A28 just before or after Rouen.

I was thinking that I might have to use a municipal site as many of the larger sites seems to want you to stay for a minimum of 2 nights at that time of the year.

Does anybody have any recommendation for sites in that area?

We don't really want to have to go too far out of our way to get to the sites if possible!!

Many thanks

You're welcome audiman. The site has a fairly extensive list of places and a brief rundown on what they are like. It is a source I will be using myself. Hope you and others find it useful.

Just looked this one up in the CC's Caravan Europe book and it makes reference to smells from the local sewage works being a problem!

We've just booked a night at the municipal at St Georges du Vievre (overnight stop from Royan to Zeebrugge) which looks reasonable.   www.camping-normand.com. www.camping-normand.com

Your title of Stopovers down to the Vendee made me tune in.  However, we travel down to the Vendee via Caen, Avranches, Rennes and Nantes.  we stopover at Villedieu des Poeles.  It's half an hour further than droping down to Angers, and 30+ Euros cheaper - pays for the stopover.

We went that route last year to the Vendee and it took forever, so we prefer the Rouen, Le Mans route as it more direct and shorter.

Hi All

Many thnaks for your replies.  Last year we went to Pornic and stayed ay Alencon in both directions.  We decided that that was wrong  for us as we could have gone much further on the first day and would have liked it not to have been such a rush to get the ferry on the return leg.  So this year we decided that we would make the second legs of each way shorter.

The reason I was looking for municipal sites was becasue the private sites won't do one night bookings in August.....which is understandable!!

I must admit, the Rouen, Le Mans, Angers route seems much more direct to me.....I know alot of people like to save money by avaoiding the peage but to me , I just want to get my holiday started ASAP !!!.however, did get lost in Rouen and that was with sat nav!!!, but having tried the industrial estate route ont eh way out will definantly be going back to the centre of Rouen again!

If other people have suggestions that would be great

Cheers and thanks

Hi All

Found this site in Rouen:

 http://www.airecampingcar.com/aire_camping_car_gps.php/2285-Camping%20De%20L'aubette

Gave the guy a ring.  Normally I can get by with my average French and their average English.  But this guy could not speak a word of English and spoke too fast for me to fully grasp what he was saying!!!

I think he said that it is not a problem for mycar & caravan and hook up as long as I arrive before 1800 hours.....I think!!

Has anybody been here or looking at the website, does that seem normal?

We will be using the site early August!!

Many thanks
