We are staying at Camping du Jard in La Tanche sur Mer this August and are returning on the St Malo - Portsmouth day crossing which departs at 1045.

We cannot decide whether to:

- leave LTsM early morning and head straight for St Malo, or:

- leave LTsM a couple of days early and find a site in th vicinty of S Malo.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Return ferry is 1045am, so it means leaving LTsM at about 4am, which means going to bed early the night before!

I think we will leave LTsM a couple of days early and head back towards St Malo.

Bryanbolton, we've stayed at Du Jard a few times, cracking site. The owner, (can't remember his name), is quite keen on "security" he has a security guard wandering around at night and the site barrier is locked from 23:00 to 07:00, unfortunatley your 04:00 dart would be a no-no.  Have a good holiday we always do when there.

St Malo has a lovely old town so it would be worth heading up there the day before at a leisurely pace and doing a bit of sightseeing. Some nice restaurants in the old town as well to round off your holiday.

We have decided to leave du Jard thursday morning and stay a couple of nights in the St Malo area before getting aboard saturday morning.

Thanks everyone, we have decided on a couple of nights in St Malo.  Has anyone been to Camping de la Ville Huchet?  Its on the outskirts of St Malo off the N137.
