Last year we took our tent and two babes (age 4, 9mths) to France in the tent for the whole summer hols - no bookings, only the ferry. We moved the tent 7 times, when we got too gritty we booked into a hotel for the night. We had a raging heatwave at the beginning and torrential storms for the last two weeks. It was the best holiday we've ever had - you just have to go with the flow.
We're doing it again this year. Now the youngest is walking maybe we'll change our minds for next year!

We have 17 nights planned in France this summer - an overnight at Calais both ends, and then 6 and 9 nights at two different sites (Loire & Poitou) inbetween.
I didn't think anything of it to be honest. But then there are only two of us, and we're taking a small 2 man, as well as our 4-man tunnel, for the overnights. We are also very used to driving 4-5 hours, unpacking a load of clobber, staying two nights and then packing it all up and driving another 4-5 hours, so a whole 6/9 nights in one place sounds positively relaxing!
We are arriving in Calais overnighting in Rouen, carrying on and spending 3 nights at Saumur then on down to Royan for 7 nights, then back up with two stop overs (haven't decided where yet). All with a 9 year old. Are we mad? (or am I, seeing as it is me that does all the planning then tells the OH what we are doing!)

Oh, I'm getting worried now.

Its each to therir own shed63. Some seem to like 2 centre holidays, some like to tour and some, like us just go and take root. We are overnighting in Rouen, then down to La Palmyre just north of Rouen for 14 nights then back to Calais with a stopover at the Normandy beaches to visit the American cemetery, then a stopover in Calais before the ferry home. The stop overs are in hotels though because we dont want to pack and unpack. Your holiday sounds great and your 9 year old will love it. Enjoy.

camp-hopping with the igloo is ok, we've been doing it several times. I would not do that with the frame though. It's true, you set it up in 2 hours or so, but it really takes a few days before everything slides in its place. Then there's the unpacking. It usually takes not less than 3 hours. I never pull the frame for anything shorter than 2 or 3 weeks in a row -in the same place-
