Hi,

I am heading Spain on the Portsmouth>Bilbao ferry in July. I was planning on going to the San Fermin Festival in Pamplona (the one with the bull running through the city).

Has anyone done this before and if so is it worth it? I have several concerns around parking in Pamplona/Campsites near there?

Thanks,

Shaun

You might have problems trying to book a site now. We went last year and booked ten months in advance and were told we had the last pitch and this was a site 15 miles from Pamplona. As for parking anywhere near the bull run forget it unless you  get there in the middle of the night. As well as the bus service the site we were on was running a minibus for people who wanted to go. Most of the towns and villages in the area also have bull runs throughout July and August and they're also worth visiting. If you do go don't forget your newspaper to hit the bulls nose

We went two years ago. Stayed at Camping Ezcaba (www.campingezcaba.com) We didn't book but got there about 4 days before the bull run and got a pitch. After that they were arriving day and night. They were mainly young people from Oz, NZ, South Africa, America, Canada. They were in old vans, tents etc. Finished up 100's on the campsite but was an experience not to be missed. There is a bus running from the village which is about 10 minute walk. We went to Pamplona the day before the bull run and experienced something unusual. Its called 'running of the nudes'. They are against the bull running and its a protest but not to be missed for a good laugh.

If you go to the running of the bulls go to the bullring because you won't see anything in the streets and its safer as well. Cost is about 5 euros.

Worth a visit
