Looing for help in choosing a campsite in the Vendee first two weeks in July. Thought we had it- Les Ecureuils in St Hillaire. However they are full from the 12th. This site was perfect as it was walkable to a beach and supermarket, pitches large enough to accomodate large tent and looked like one of the more quiet sites in the area when it came to the nightlife. Also they did fridge hire, allowed BBQ's and had English speaking staff. Everything we were looking for.

Can anyone suggest an alternative site which is similar. Went to La Garangoire last year and although site was good, there was nowhere to walk to and we really missed that.

I am aware that we have left it late but in previous years have not booked until May(always wait till hubbys exams out of the way) and have not had a problem. Obviously next year we will do things differently.

We are a family of 2 adults and 2 kids 9 and 4.

Please help!

We went here last year and thought it was good.

Ok its 15 minute drive to the beach but ticks most other boxes on your list.  I you get a pitch number in the 50's. 60's, 70's  you are close to the play area and not far from the main amenities and 10 mins walk from Lac Jaunay.

The pitches are huge and we had no problem with our hartford XXL with canopy and even after parking the car and trailer still had room for the kids to play.

We would have gone here again this year but fancied a change in area so heading to The Dordogne region..

We stayed at http://www.camping-baiedaunis.com/gb/index.htm in summer 2005.  The location was excellent, just across the road to the beach and a reasonalbe stroll into La Tranche.

We went to Pin Parasol Vendee last year, you can walk for miles around the Lac du Jaunay, lovely quiet site and very friendly staff.

We were there in August last year, weather a bit changeable, campsite was busy but still seemed quite quiet.  Kids made loads of friends and theplay area was very safe,

Dripping_wet.... i think our children played together, but we lost your address !

Hi sjriley, yes that was us.  How are you doing, I trust the kids are well.  Drop me an e mail and I will confirm our address back

atractorboy at yahoo.co.uk

We nearly booked to go back to Pin Parasol as we enjoyed it so much last time but fancied a change and  booked to go here in August http://www.belombrage.com/gb/camping.htm

What are you up to this year ??

Hi,

Try phoning Les Ecureiuls  at Jard Sur Mer - it's lovley there - Sophie B speaks excellent English if you need help - they may also be able to recomment another dite in Jard if full. - but not Curty's as it is too far out!

You could also try La Pomme Du pin in Jard smallish site direct access to the beach and you can walk into the village and down to the harbour area in about 10 mins
