I have the American Express Travellers Cheque Card and that is brilliant, I took it to Finland last year and found it to be really usefull.

You can top up your balance online or over the phone and the exchange rates are more favourable then exchanging cash for cash at a foreign exchange office.

They also have other benefits such as passport loss assistance and if you lose your card or its stolen they can send the funds to a western union office within a few hours.
