They do have a factory shop its at a place called Annonay (S?) but its quite a bit south. If you do a google I sure it would bring it up.

Lafuma is made in France. You can buy it in nearly every Hypermarket or "do-it-self" shop

Our local caravan shop is now selling a very similar lounger (all that's different is there is no Lafuma logo on the head cushion).  It's the newest model, greyish woven seat material, with the mahogany replacement to the foam padding on the arms, removable head cushion, webbed strapping, etc.  The mechanism to change position is just the same, the colours are the same, but the price is only around £50 instead of the £100 *(approx) which the real thing costs.  Our contact there says 'they are made in France' (the copies, I mean) 'and to the same standard and pattern as Lafuma but we can buy them in at a third the price'!

Two years ago we bought something similar (a copy of the then current Lafuma model) from Practical Caravan, costing us only £37.00 each and these were again  identical to those used by our neighbours on another pitch, which were Lafuma - we just didn't have the logo.  It might just be worth you having a look locally.  I'm trying to remember the company who actually supplied those we ordered - although they were ordered though Practical Caravan it was a firm who sold those 'look-alike' VW campers whose literature was enclosed with the delivery, and who were at that time selling them on their website for the same price.

Pager33,

I don't want to sound ignorant but what's so special about Lafuma chairs, I have just had a look at them and they don't seem to be any different from any other reasonably built chair/recliner ?.

Yes you can.  We bought ours in a Hyper-U for less than a third of the price back here.

And I don't know about the look alikes, but anyone who has sat/reclined in a lafuma can tell you how comfy theyare

They are just so comfortable, like sitting in a hammock, but your'e not in danger of falling out.  Try one.  They are certainly nothing like an ordinary camping chair.

There is a Lafuma shop at the Designer Factory Outlet close to Cite Europe in Calais. Prices much cheaper than UK and good selection of all Lafuma products. We find their recliners excellent

They're a far superior build quality and much stronger than the cheaper imitations.

I'm a big, very heavy bloke and our two Lafumas are as strong today as the day we bought them 8 years ago.At that time they were about £120.00 per pair.

If weight isn't a problem then there's little point in spending the extra cash to buy Lafumas. I've heard that the Dukdalf version are a good alternative.

Another good point about the Lafuma brand is that they have a UK office in Fareham, Hants. so that IF any of the plastic joints break or become defective, you can order up new bits which you can fit yourself. You'll need a Tork tool to do any work.

Don't know whether you can do this with other makes.

Cheers!

Vic
