Just been offered greta deal on two centre break, 1wk, Beg Meil 2nd Le Conguel. Think I read somewhere that Quiberon Peninsular can be busy and windy!  Taking biles so don't want lots of traffic - any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

"Think I read somewhere that Quiberon Peninsular can be busy and windy!"

Correct on both counts - we have been there a couple of times (in low season) and it was fairly busy- got the impression it would be absolutely mobbed in high season.

Was fairly windy too as most parts are very exposed although there are some more sheltered parts which were Ok.

Having said all that it's a beautiful part of the country and well worth a visit - lots of lovely places to visit nearby - Auray has a brilliant market on Mondays and Vannes is well worth a visit.

As said it is a lovely part of France. We went in June and it was busy but Quiberon itself wasn't too busy and the beaches are fantastic. We took bikes and cycled into Quiberon and round the pennisular. There is only one main road down to Quiberon and that road can get busy( can't remember if there were any cycle tracks) Don't think it was all that windy when we went ( 1996!) But it was one of the best family holidays we have ever had. Went with 2 other families and all the children had a wonderful time.

We were in South Brittany in August a couple of years ago and it took us an hour to get off the Quiberon peninsular on the day we went there. I have to say it was worth it though cos the beach was spectacular (so lovely a photographer was taking photos of a couple of models in full bridal gear for a magazine shoot!). Yes it was windy but we made the most of that by getting the kites out. If you try to avoid the roads at peak times then I'm sure you'll love it.

Yes Quiberon was a great place. We were staying near Carnac and went down on the train one day, you could do reverse and avoid traffic. However liked it so much that went back next day and hired bikes. Go to the liitle bay on the east coast...can't remember name. Port Something??? Fantastic sea swimming aff the beach..All walled in. Also found a fantastic restaurant from a guide book in back streets out of Quiberon.

The main road up the peninsular gets incredibly busy but there's a back road down the western side (you need to follow the signs for the "route cote sauvage") and I've never known this to be busy at all, and what little traffic there is goes really slowly because they're gazing at the views (it's a VERY scenic route). Having said that even on the main road in high season most drivers were very good about giving room to bikes, so shouldn't have too much trouble (one of the times we went there we were on a bike holiday, with an eight year old and a three year old, and a trailer for the tent, didn't feel at all threatened by traffic).

Thanks everyone that's encouraging. Will probably go ahead and book this up - fingers crossed for sunshine in July!
