well have got the campsites booked in france thanks to help from a friend. nearly all done but............insurance!!!!

I know we need medical insurance as well as our health cards but do we need tent insurance? what about travel insurance against ferry cancellations etc

does anyone know of a cheap all encompassing insurer? We are away for 21 nights tho as we go away for weekends in the UK as often as we can all year cover would also be good

thanks for your help

'Tent' insurance can be a problem ... most policies only cover possessions if "they are locked away and out of sight"! Difficult in a tent!
Your Home Insurance, 'Contents' cover can be extended, if you've not already done so, to cover personal items away from home (including in Europe) ... which we find cheaper and it lasts for a year [plus you can opt out of the 'bagage' cover on any travel insurance hence saving some of the cost]. However it still only covers items left unattended if they are locked away and out of sight. We cover our gear in the car with a large blanket and our insurers say that counts as out-of-sight.
So ... check what the insurer is offering you before you pay-up.

We don't bother with cancellation insurance either as the excess they charge [per person] is often more than the travel costs in the first place [unless you're committed to paying in full for a pre-booked camping site].
