Does anybody know of any campsites within an hour of Dunkerque which has chalets you can book by the night? Looking for somewhere to stop off on the way back for a night. Don't fancy pitching the tent for just 1 night.

Thanks

Why not just stay at one of the cheap French motel chains? Can highly recommend the B&B chain with rooms that sleep up to 4 people, and others have used Formule 1. They are usually situated near main roads and motorways so you don't have to detour too far off your route if you're travelling on the the next day.

Hi Daly

In the past we have used the cheap hotel chains.  They were fine for the night but make sure you choose one with air con as the one time we didn't, we hardly slept a wink because of the heat.  Over the last few years we have been reluctant to use these hotels as we now tow a trailer and don't like the idea of leaving the trailer in a hotel carpark.  So, we bought a cheap 3 man quick pitch tent which goes up very easily and we use it for overnight stops.

The BB chain usually have locked car parks. They are a bit more expensive that Formula 1, but you do have your own toilet & shower. The one we stayed at in Lille, the security guard had a big alsatian as well & regulary patrolled the car park at night.  You can check the particular hotel's facilities prior to booking.

Just booked my accomodation for my overnight stops in France with BB hotels today.
