Hello

We are relatively new to touring.  We are essentially a family of 4 (with parents occasionally) We are about to join a large party who frequent Trevornick in Cornwall EVERY year.  This is to be their 10th year.  We don't want to do that every year & I have found Duinrell (Wassenraar or something like that!) in Take a Break Mag.  I have no idea where to start looking to enquire about prices etc.  We live fairly close to Hull so would be sailing from Hull to Rotterdam.  Anyone have any useful tips/advise?  We have a touring van and it didn;t mention whether they accept tourers or if it's just static's.  I have looked on the forum and found a few very positive comments in relation to this.

I look forward to ANY help you guys can offer

Thanks

Hi Lou bee.  Thanks for your reply.  I take it then by your reply they do have tourers!

Is it an expensive site?  We have not yet been any farther than Helmsley which took us an hour and a half and most expensivly cost £21 per night!!  We don;t mind paying a bit more but just for budget sake.  I will check site in a mo.  Thanks again

I did think that it was quite expensive for tourers (can,
't remember exactly how much ) but the facilities look very good (had a good nose around touring area) and the theme park is included which is fab for the kids ,its a nice area near beaches not too far from Amsterdam . Wassenaar its self is 5 mins walk ,very pretty & has decent supermarket etc.
Have you looked at the web site yet? its very good with videos etc.

Me again.  I tried but it's in Euro's.  Will have to try figure it out.  I have requested a brochure.  The site seems a bit all over and not that clear.  hey - will wait for it to arrive and try again.  Thanks again for all your help.

P.S  Youa re right - about not being brave, hence the not braving your tent.  Then again I have blown air heating, fly screens & running water.  I don;t really do naturistic! Ha ha.

I did however forget to ask.  You mentioned how far away wassenraar or whatever is but not Amsterdam/Rotterdam.  We have a 7 year old & 6 year old.  Just started with the "Are we there yet? Syndrome so curious to know how prepared for that we need to be!

Hello again , first the Euros I think its about 68.9 at the moment ,A good site with a convertor is moneycorp.com
We went to Amsterdam on the train its about 30 miles away , Rotterdam is 21 miles easy journey on motorway type roads (?) there is an excellent zoo here that our kids (even the big ones 17&16) insist we visit every holiday.
We have done Harwich to Hook of Holland ferry which takes you to within 20 odd miles to the site ,but recently have favoured the dover /Calais route which is a 2 to 3 hour drive with rest stops.
Hope this helps a bit , you can get some info for reference from the tour operator web sites like Keycamp,Eurocamp etc. not sugesting you book with them just use for info.

Hi
We've been to Holland a number of times, (although not to Duinrell)
We also take the Hull - Rotterdam route which is a fantastic ferry and I'd thoroughly recommend it.

We have stayed at Landal parks in the past, the link is here alhtough most are just lodges (think Centerparcs type places) a few are campsites too. We were recommended it by a friend who took her caravan to one of them. They don't have quite as much in the way of watersports etc as Duinrell have but all have pools.

Holland is a wonderful country and we're going again next year, we love the atmosphere, the friendliness and all the wonderful cycling.

we have stayed here before and are going again in october half term, the facilities are good and the kids love it. The ppol has an incredible amount of waterslides. Wehave seen tourers/motorhomes, but we stayed in a static, was £190 for the week this October so did not seem worth taking all the kit. (that was with Keycamp for the top 3 berth).

We drove from Calais last time which was about 3-4hrs, this time we are going from hull so very little driving the others side, the downside is the cost of the long crossing, was £300 for 5 of us but do get a 5 berth cabin which is unusual.

If you go on keycamp or eurocamp websites they each have a video of the site which gives you a good idea about the site.

Wow, how'd you get the ferry so cheap? Is it the time of year you went? We went on the Hull crossing at Easter (also had 5 berth cabin, nice aren't they!) and it was £607 for the 5 of us but that did include meals. (We used tesco clubcard to pay for most of it though).

we booked last year for this October half term, maybe thats why it was £300 we booked direct with P &O, was a similar price booked through Keycamp but could not offer the 5 berth cabin, this is for a car no caravan/trailer. We have not booked any meals though.

Glad the cabins are nice, we have not been in one before, have always gone to Holland via Calais before.

Oh hadn't realised you hadn't been yet! You have got a good deal! We booked around the same time but for the crossing at Easter, perhaps the further in advance you book the cheaper it is? (I will check later because we're hopefully going again next easter)

The boat was *lovely*. I normally get seasick but didn't at all. The whole place was spotless and with excellent service in the restaurants (food was nice too). I'm assuming you'll have the simliar cabin to us, we had no choice but to go for the 'club class' one as it could sleep 5, it was very posh with nice shampoo and bathrobes. We treated like a night in a hotel on the way to our holiday, much much nicer than any other ferry journey I've done before.
