Hi we are off there wiht Keycamp this summer - I am wondering how striclty the no shorts rule is enforced and any other tips or advice from folk who have been there.

There was quite a long thread on this very subject just recently, probably it will be in the first 5 pages here.  If I remember correctly the replies indicated that some sites are stricter than others. Some will not let you near the pool without speedo style trunks, others do not mind what you wear.  Those that did not bring speedo style tunks and then found out they had to wear them usually complained that the ones sold on the site shop were very expensive.

The sensible conclusion seemed to be that you should take a pair of speedo style trunks just in case they are necessary, especially seeing as they actually say you need them at the site you are going to. If you are self-concious about wearing them, then I think you could wear them under your other shorts-style trunks and take those off just before getting into the pool. When you get out, put them back on again!

We have been to La Garangeoire twice now and think it is a brilliant site.  I can't remember how strictly the no shorts in the pool rule was enforced because the OH wears a sort of cross between speedos and shorts which were never commented on.  The thing I do remember is that they don't allow shoes of any description (even flip flops and pool shoes) in the pool area.  You have to take them off at the gate, put them on a shoe rack and wade through a foot bath before you can enter the pool enclosure.  If they enforce the no shoes rule so strictly, they may have similar shorts rules.

I am sure you will have a fantastic time, we love the site.

I had trawled through the archives and altho everyone rates the site no one mentions the trunk issue!

We went to Garangeoire, last year and the year before, once with keycamp and once with eurocamp and its a brilliant site, the shorts rule is not enforced at all, both  my 10 year old son and I wore shorts in the pool both years. Its a geat pool and though it  does get busy there was always room, if not always on loungers on the grassy areas.

The bar is very good, the staff are great, all speak good english and very friendly, the restaurant too is super but you do have to book. The shop is small but fresh bead & croissants are always available early morning and there is a Hyper U just 5 mins away in St Juliene des landes which has everything you could need.

We will definately be going back, and when we were there last year there were many people who had been there the previous year we recognized. Its a lovely, safe friendly site, you will love it.

Lots of repeat business, people were booking on site last year and we booked as soon as we got home the first yearand still couldn't get exactly what we wanted!
