Can anyone recommend a nice friendly family site in the Loire suitable for my family of 4, (kids are 10 & 7) that has a pool? We do like the look of Etang de la Breche which we visited for the day last August while staying at Chant d'Oiseau, the pitches looked lovely and the pool was fab. We want to go at the end of August for about a week of so. Any recommendations would be great. Thanks.

Our No. 1 favourite site is The Vallee des Vignes near doue la fontaine. Been there 3 / 4 times, once for 2 weeks. I dont know what it is about the place but whenever we get there I always feel instantly relaxed. Great for kids - mine went off all day and I only saw them at hungry times. Both my kids would love to go agin this year but I want to go down to the Dordogne.
We think L'Etang de la Brech is a great site. We stayed there for ten days last August and loved the spaciousness of it and the facilities were very good too. Another site we like just as much is Chateau de Marais. This has a fantastic location right next to the chateau at Chambord. If I had to choose between them the pool and washblocks at Chateau de Marais are probably slightly better than L'Etang but both are very good so perhaps you should consider the location of them as they are in different parts of the Loire. We would definitely recommend either of them and would like to go back to them both one day.
We loved Catherine de Fierbois... went with Canvas and had the most fantastic pitch. Lovely big pool with slides, kids disco in the evening. Its a Castels and Camping though, so not cheap.
This year we are using it as a stopover on the way home as it was the cheapest way to do it. A wooden bungalow with cooking facilities, but no toilet (so a wooden tent!) for 4 of us is just 63 Euros for 2 nights - yup thats EUROS, not £££s. A pitch was dearer, and to be honest for 2 nights we didn't want to have to pitch the tent anyway.
can i second the recommendation for chateau des marais? Watch out for the waterslide though - I came down 2 years ago with no1 son on my lap, he held onto my right arm so I couldn't balance 100% and when we hit the water I though we were never coming up again!
He loved it though!

Thanks everyone for the replies, Ronnie Ainsdale, do you have a website please for the camping L'Etang at Brissac Quince as I couldnt find it on the campsite Search. I do like the look of Parc de Loisiris, lots for the kids to do there and also La Citadelle at Loches, so decision time! thanks again everyone.

Hi Ness we're going to camping L'Etang at Brissac Quince in August the web address is www.campingetang.com looks excellent heard very good things about it.
Would also recommend Ste. Catherine de Fiebois & Le Chateau de Marais. Have stayed at many sites in the Loire and they are 2 of the best. Ste Catherine is especially "child Friendly".
I too have booked to go to Parc de Loisirs in August. The review was great. Seems so much to do for the kids.
Can I be cheeky and ask if Gerry can let me know what it is like when he gets back? Or if anyone else has been? Have emailed the campsite re: barbecues, but I am none the wiser!
We stayed at Parc des Alicourts a few years ago and hardly saw our children. That is not actually what we go away for, but it was a superb site! It is further east along the Loire but very accessible.
