I've had a quick look round on this site and others for info about using the ferry.  I haven't been able to find out how long before your crossing do you need to be at the port.  We are crossing Dover - Dunkerque.  We are nervous enough about manouvering the caravan without being late aswell!

The check in is one hour with the Norfolk line and boarding is nothing to worry about, even with a caravan. There are plenty of marshals around to guide you and just take it nice and slow up the ramp and a marshall will show you which lane to park in and another marshall will guide you into the lane and tell you when to stop. Easy Peasy. Have a good trip.

We have always got there about 1 hour before and don't worry too much about manouvering your van you will be put into a lane and you will just drive straight on. Here are our check in times for our crossing from Plymouth to santander this year I just got these off Brittany Ferries website

Don't be tempted to go to the check in too early as they won't let you onto the dock unless your departure is the "next one".

We arrived early and had to leave the port and park up.

Hi Paul . We have travelled several times with Norfolk Line Dover to Dunkirk and always arrived early and been put straight onto the next boat going out. We have never been told to park outside the port and these sailings were all in high season. The only occasion there was no room on the next boat out we were put in a holding lane. Which is standard practice with all the ferry companies if you dont want to pay the extra to go on an earlier boat. Norfolk Line never used to charge for putting you on an earlier boat but I believe that they are introducing charges this year.
