It's our first time travelling abroad in our car so I was wondering what the law says about displaying GB stickers when travelling in France.  Do you still need them if you have GB on your number plate?

Sounds like a bargain! but I still would like to know whether I need one - I'd rather not.

Either the blue GB or the euro emblem. If you have either of those on your reg plate, then you're ok.

Don't forget that you need something on your caravan too - same rules apply.

You dont need one on the vehicle ,if you have it on the number plate , But ours has the number plate type and i also have a magnetic one that goes on the the rear hatch , my reasoning is that it can be seen easier than the number plate type and if local drivers of europe can easily figure i am right hand drive, and be a bit more forgiving if i make mistakes or look uncertain, (or just think another Brit not knowing what he is doing)4

No need to buy one - just ask at the check-in desk as you go for your ferry, and they will happily give you one (or two if you are towing) free.
