We are off to France in a few weeks and we are unsure about what we need and where to get it, we have normal hook up lead but having read various posts I am still unsure as what to get. The campsite we are going to says it has both EU and French sockets and says polarity is not the same as UK, so do I need a 2 pin adapter with reverse polarity and if so where do I get these from and how much do they cost. Any help will be greatly appreciated as time is running out.

I made my own from 2-pin sockets bought in France, one is wired corectly and the other is reverse wired. To check which one to use I have a mains socket tester which gives the correct output. This was bought from B&Q but any good DIY store sells them.My local caravan dealer sells the 2-pin socktes now but they are cheap and not up to the French standards,so my advice if you are able, is to get 2x leads ready with FEMALE 16A plugs(blue) and by some French 2-pin plugs which are readily available in any large supermarket and make your own.
You will be able to plug your existing hook up cable into one of these adapters.
Have a look at Trekkin' Tekkie's excellent post for first timers to France. It's 'pinned' in this section. There's also a post by JohnG which is brilliant, (search for JohnG as author) with pics etc to guide you. Failing that, go to any caravan accessory store and ask the salespeople there what you need for reverse plarity EHU in France.

Hi ,we are off to Brittany on the 1st Aug and have managed to just buy a continental 2 pin plug which already has the +/- reversed to combat any reversed polarity ,i am also taking a normal 2 pin hookup as well ,also invest in a polarity checker which just plugs into your unit.I bought mine from Ebay approx 7 pounds delivered cheers .
