Can anyone please help we are looking for a campsite for an overnight stay for 2 caravans on Thursday 26th July near the N10 just north of angouleme. We would prefer not to stay on a municipal site (unless you can pre book and it is in the centre of a town or village - so we can eat out in a restaurant) as we would like a site with a bar/restaurant or snack bar - ehu would be preferred but not essential and not more than 10 miles off our route from Poitiers to Angouleme.

We are also looking for a site north of Tours towards Le Mans for the return journey on Saturday 10th August (again same criteria please)   

We are travelling from Le Havre to Labenne (near Biarritz) and we think the best route is Le Havre - Rouen - Le Mans - Tours - Poitiers - Angouleme - Bordeaux - Labenne. If anyone knows of a better route or campsites on an alternative route I would be grateful. Ideally we would like to travel approx 350 miles on first day leaving 170 for the second day. And on the return journey we would like to travel 350 - 400 miles before stopping.

but thinks its a bit too far north for the way down and not far enough north for the way back - - panicking now we'll be on our way this time next week  - any ideas for sites even looking at municipals now you can pre-book in centre of towns near to restaurants - - any help will be appreciated

Even the smallest of towns in France seem to have a web site these days so it may be a longshot but if you google a few places in the area you are interested in stopping over you may come up with one that has a municipal.

Just been onto the Mansle town webiste found a link which has given me a telephone number for the campsite I will ring it in the morning to see if there are pitches available .
