Hi can anyone reccommend any campsites in france where we can use our own tent and equipment? Given the weather here we are debating going to France. Also prices we would expect to be charged per night

Hope someone can help thanks Cally

How far do you want to drive?

If you are thinking that just crossing the channel makes it warm and dry then think again, the further you drive towards the Med the better the sun.

Do you want to get away from it all or be in the thick of it?

Most sites will be happy to let you use your own kit.

Try doing a search using the search facility ,buttons are located at top of page ,you will be able to search different areas of France and also read comments left by people who have camped at the site stating the facilities etc.

Last summer we got down to the south of France in 3 overnight stops.  That was taking it easy, doing about 170 miles a day, with caravan in tow.

The sites we stayed at were:
Camping Municipal (Chalons en Champagne) - lovely site
Camping Des Sources (Santenay) - another nice site
Camping l'Epervière (Valence) - not very nice, but ok as an overnighter.

We had 2 weeks Camping Holiday Marina in Port Grimaud.  Nice site, but we found food and drink at the site a bit pricey.  Lots to see and do round there too.

There were quite a few people at the sites with tents.

On average, you're looking at 15euro's a night - but check the websites for up-to-date prices.

Hope that helps!

There are thousands of sites in France where you can use your own equipment - and France is such a big country.  Can you narrow it down a bit?  People usually say you need to go down beyond the Loire to get better weather than in England.  That said, there are sites in France to suit all tastes from the biggest all-singing, all-dancing site, with facilities better than a five star hotel (probably at around 40 euros or more per night) to the smallest municipal, in a village, with decent clean facilities, for as little as 6 or 8 euros including electricity.  Do you have children - in which case you'll probably want more on offer in the site itself? When are you going?  The end of July and the beginning of August are the busiest time in France, and the bigger sites will tend to be booked up (though you may be lucky and get an odd pitch if you just turn up).  Municipal sites will usually have spaces - but start looking before 4.00 pm.

If you could say more about where you're crossing, and how far you want to drive, then I'm sure someone will come up with some suggestions.

I should think we all can, more or less. There are thousands. Have you had a look in the reviews on this site?
Have a look at some of the sites in my profile. I've liked them all I think.

Most of all, have fun. It's great camping in France.

Indeed they are - so much so that we're doing a different route round Europe this summer, but are going to be staying at them again!
