hi - I know its so sad to be going on about the weather - but please can some of more sturdy amongst you, give us some encouragement for going to brittany next week. The weather is going to be cloudy and rainy with a bit of sunshine and not very hot. I was sooooo hoping for lots and lots of sunshine and I know you take your chances with camping. but...... it would be nice to come back with a tan!

We were in that area last August and had pretty rubbish weather but we still had a great holiday. There is plenty to do and see so I'm sure you'll have a good time and just keep telling yourself that you are saving your skin from all those damaging rays!

------------- Live every day as if it's your last - don't waste it
Have to echo what Susie said. We were there at the same time last year and the weather was horrid. Year before it was great- beach every day. last year we just went out every day and explored. Just make the most of what you've got. Brittany is very like Cornwall weatherwise (they are not that far apart) so don't expect heat waves (unless we have them here). Brittany is beautiful and diverse - enjoy and if you want sun save up for the trip south!!

we are going to the l'orangerie at lanniron. Thanks so much for the encouragement- of course you are all right - just needed a wee boost. Its the being away from home and doing stuff as a family which makes a holiday not necessarily the weather, and if we get to go on the beach now and then - well thats a bonus. Hope you all have some lovely trips away yourselves. xx
no we haven't but it has had some great reviews, it was in the Guardian top 5 sites in brittany no less, although we had booked it by then. It just looks a really nice size and a good location. Hope you have a lovely holiday.
Hadn't read the Guardian review, but it does look like a nice site. I do know that some of the pitches were flooded a couple of weeks ago, but the site assure me that all is now dry! I also noticed that the new pool complex has been pushed back to 2008 (maybe they knew about the weather??) I have been to Brittany a few times before and it is a magical place wet or dry. If you see our set-up (see photo on profile) feel free to pop in for a glass of vin. Whatever happens to the weather - keep smiling and have fun!

Quimper, so there will be at least 2 Brits suffering if the weather is poor, hey come on its not all about sunshine, Well thats what I tell the wife. I leave on the 4th August so with any luck the weather men/women will have got it wrong and I can have a relaxing holiday without hearing "look at the weather" anybody know a decent site for a stop over on my way home Rouen area heading for Dunkirk from there

We to will be camping not too far from Quimper at La Corniche campsite at Plozevet on 2nd Aug which is not far away from the beach ,our first time camping in France .Would have been nice to have hot sunshine etc etc but we won`t let it spoil our trip as i can`t help thinking about the poor souls in UK who have had houses flooded and lost all their furniture etc ,least we will be away on holiday rain or shine ,to all the other Brits holidaying around that area gives us a wave if you pass us by on the road and lets just keep our fingers crossed for alittle bit of sunshine or at least dry weather .
you are all right - and its so nice to hear such encouragement. We are meeting friends and as long as we don't get completely washed away and get to play on the beach that will be great.
have a lovely summer everyone!
p.s bought an outwell day tent - so at least all our stuff won't be strewn across the campsite when we return from a day out!
We have been at L'Orangerie for 4 nights now - loads of rain, but also some sunny spells. Nice and warm though, so at least the kids are getting plenty of outdoor fun! The site is really pleasant - very mature greenery and a lovely setting. Will probably do a review later on.
