Wheather has been up and down, but mainly up. Just got back from near Biarritz and it was fabulously hot. We did have a night of rain which lasted until middle morning. But, as we were under the trees we did not suffer too much apart from the fact that the trees shed the drops well after the initial rain had stopped.
We were on the beach and the temperatures reached 31 and lasted until about 7.00pm last night on our way back in the car.
Today near Bilbao, it is wonderful and hot

Does anyone know of any nice campsites for 2 + 1 dog, with nice facilities, preferably close (within a couple of miles) to a beach and quite quiet (ie not the french version of butlins! :) )
Thanks
Lyz

Will also be at Labene or whatever its called( I suppose I should know its name it might help with the Sat Nav) from 9th August, we have friends in Biarritz who say its been hot and when its wet it drys up fairly quickly. Starting in Britanny on Sunday and from the web sites Ive looked at the weather is set to be reasonably good. Its pouring down here at the moment so any sun would be welcome.

------------- Had a 2 year break from camping but ff to france this summer hopefully
The furthest south in France I have been on that coast in the last 30 years is La Rive at Biscarosse - Its on a superb sandy lake beach and a reasonable drive to the sea beach - We [with kids] enjoyed it but it was big. It accepts dogs so maybe worth a look. There are plenty of threads on it - I don't think I have seen anyone say they had anything apart from good experiences.
Hi everyone, arrived home yesterday from Mezos, about an hour north of Biarritz, near Mimizan. The weather has been fantastic - up in the mid 30s. We did experience a few damp mornings with occasional showers but these soon dried up to reveal unbroken sunshine.
A campsite called Tropical Village Sen Yan (www.sen-yan.com). When we arrived we thought it looked a bit hi-de-hi but were proved very wrong. It's a site comprising of mobile homes with verandas and some wooden chalet type things. It has a really good swimming pool complex for the kids and was very safe for them to go off alone. It also has a restaurant, good takeaway (not too pricey) and daytime activities together with nighttime entertainment if you like that sort of thing.
The sanitary facilities were very clean, being constantly cleaned during the day. The showers hot and quite powerful.
The camping pitches can be a bit cramped so if you were to go there I'd advise asking for row M if you can get it - it's away from the hustle and bustle and overlooks the pine forest.
We're planning a return visit next year as we liked it so much.

Hi everyone, we too are just back from this part of France (Les Landes), having had fabulous weather. We stayed at Les Ecureuils in Biscarrosse, just 5 mins cycle ride from the beautiful Lac Sanguinet. Lovely site; very few Brits and loads of Dutch. Will do a more detailed review when I've caught up with all the washing! Would totally agree with Midge21 - this part of France is fantastic, there's so much to do.
