Heeeeeeeeeeeelp

I am on the verge of being court-marshalled here as I forgot to sort out adding the squaddie to the insurance! Done yesterday but now worried the insurance document won’t come through in time! We go Tuesday evening to France

I can get a faxed copy of the certificate faxed to work –will this be adequate or do I need to get it couried out Monday?

I am in trouble already for my lack of organisation – I got a military ticking off last night so need to know what my options are?

Leave him behind.

I'd guess the insurance company would advise that all you need is the policy number.  You need  a contact number and details of the cover - fax would be fine if they can't email it.

So long as thet have your payment the insurance is in place.

Emma

Theoretically you should carry the ORIGINALS of all your docs. Copies are not acceptable. But then it depends on whether you like to take risks or not. Everyone has their own tales of setting out without docs. I once "got away with" showing an old accident report form as insurance when stopped at a peage, because I had gone in a rush, and forgotten everything.

Haha good idea!!!!

Luckily I found the MOT cert for the van etc – didn’t prevent me getting the “7 P’s” quoted at me though!!!

Unfortunately unlike one of his lads I saw fit to laugh at him!!! Haha not amused!!

Fantastic idea about the email though will see if they can email me a print only version of something!!!

Thankyou!

Frogman - risks with him are not acceptable!! He won't take them!! I';d better get a courier sorted then!

We have left it too late in the past for the documents to come through the post and I have been informed by the insurance co that as long as I have the policy number and the company's emergency number then that will be adequate. Obviously if anyone does ring up with your policy no. the company will be able to confirm that you are insured.

Give the insurance co a call - I'm sure it will be fine.

Re above, don't think it is a problem re insurance. It is French law that you carry your docs. that is where the fine comes from. you just have to talk nicely to the kind man or men in the crash helmets and sun glasses.
