We have always gone with Eurocamp in the past to France (pre-erected tents) but are thinking of going it alone next year.

We will shortly be buying a Gelert Vario 5 tent and booking ferries through kind Mr Tesco and his clubcard points.

I have tried to search for a campsite with childrens club with no success. Can anyone recommend one? My children are 9 and 7 btw.

If you use eurocamp independent you can use the kids clubs. We did this the first year we used our own gear because the kids enjoy the kids clubs. It did make the price of the holiday more than it would have been if we'd booked independely but we reasoned we had spent far less entertaining them as a result so it certainly evened things out, if not made a saving!

Weve since been to sites with childrens clubs who havent catered for anyone but french children and decided not to bother esp as the elder two arent bothered any more and the youngest has started making his own entertainment alot more!

Can you tell me which sites you have been to which had their own kids clubs?

Le grand metiarie and camping pointe St Gilles( brittany) had their own and recently Camping Bel air in pornichet.

None of the kids clubs were run well, nor to anywhere near the standards your children would already have experienced via eurocamp. They are more odd activities such as a craft activity or a game of volleyball etc being provided on site by someone just doing the 'kids club'.There was no real registration procedure or safety measures at any of them

If its a eurocamp type kids club you want then I really would recommend you use eurocamp independent

Camping L'Ardechois at Vallon has a good kids club,   http://www.ardechois-camping.com/ with organised day-time activities, and rehearsals for a magic show or illusions, at night - fantastic!

Cambrils Park, near Salou (but this is in Spain) has the Parky Club and a great pool complex especially for children http://www.cambrilspark.es/

My own observation of French-run kids clubs is that they are very low-key compared with the ones run by Tour Operators and seem to include activities which are a bit tame and quaint for British tastes, and have quite a relaxed approach towards childcare generally.

Also, I would expect a French run kids club to be French-speaking which may not suit many British youngsters.

We're going to L'Orangerie de Lanniron, near Quimper in Brittany next year and they run children's club activities on site - including some specifically for British children to encourage them to learn a little French!

BTW - You should bear in mind that the Tesco Clubcard deals with P&O Ferries to France are coming to an end in November this year.  Check the Tesco Clubcard site for details.

Hi

We have just returned from La Baie in Brittany (La Trinite sur mer) My youngest attended kids club a few times. The other posts are correct in saying they are a bit quaint but she enjoyed it and it was good chance to be with the french, German and Dutch children. It was fun to watch as the British kids were always a few seconds behind everybody else as they had to watch and see what was being asked of them!! The only warning is that they are quite laid back and not as hot on health and safety as we are in the UK. Didn't even do a head count before leaving for a picnic on the beach!!

we went to Parc de Fierbois last year and they had a good kids club - it seemed to be mainly run with the main tour operators kids clubs - they did an evening show altogether. They all seemed to do similar activities, and the person running it was Dutch and spoke excellent English.Perhaps worth looking at other les Castels to see if they run similar ones?

Have you tried searching on Google with Mini Club France - noticed that this is what nearly all the french sites call their Children's Club.  I've just tried it and it came up with some sites, and some links, which may help find what you're looking for.

Camping La Nautique in the South of France.  We thought that this was a great site.  My children really enjoyed it.  There is a range of camping, caravaning and static pitches.  It is really good value.  There are pitches with their own inividual  private sanitation facilities. There was a kids club with something to do six days a week.  There were sessions for children under 14 and over 14.  From pool games, sports competitions and loads more including theme nights.  Good for teenagers as well as the younger ones.  Have a look at their site.  It was a great stay and would recommend anyone to stay there

We have just stayed on a couple of les castels sites and they had a free, small kids club which my son loved. The sites were lovely, well worth it if you want something more laid back.

Ty Nadan in Brittany has lots of activities.

The Haven sites in Brittany were very well equiped but are now owned by a french company. It might be worth a search. One of the sites was Domaine de Kerlann.

When my kids were that age [about 5 years ago] we stayed for 3 years at le Moulinal nr Biron it had LOADS of acivities for kids and a real happy hour from 6 - 7 at the bar with all at 1/2 price [including kids drinks]. There was a lovely atmosphere at the site - the pool was open all hours BUT it was not a particularly interesting area by inland standards - although there were castles, bastides and the dordogne was only 30 miles away.

If looking at eurocamp independant do check the price with reg. eurocamp. I've just compared like for like (excl early booking discounts on reg eurocamp, insurance and extras like linen hire) and taking our tent was only £4 cheaper!!!! Once I've taken off the early booking discount eurocamp tents are significantly cheaper. I do need to double check all the figures but I suggest you have a look as it may not be saving you expected.

From tents to trailer tents to a tin tent to an air tent to trailer tent and back to tin tent!

We went to L'Etang de La Breche with Euro Ind this year and my 2 boys preferred the site club.  On quite a few days they joined up with Eurocamp for part of the session anyway, but they were still steadfast that they wanted to go to the French one.  Somehow the activities were 'messier'

In July our extended family 3- generations spent a week at St Catherine de Fierbos campsite. Loire region, south of Tours, west of Loches, east of Saumur.

Has heated + unheated pools, large lake with swimming, canoe hire, fishing, childrens club, bar, take-away, restaurant. We had a great time. Best to book direct to save money, chalets & caravans can be hired direct with large caming areas.
