Had an excellant time at an excellant campsite. Well that is for a few odd things.  Firstly, no hot water at the washing up sinks (had to bring hot water from the tap in the toilet block) and also the distance from the pool, shop etc to the pitches.

The owners were excellant when we had to use the French health service - a story for another day.

We were at Le Logis at the end of July and also thought it was really great. We were right on the edge of the wooded area near a toilet and washing block. We were close enough to the play area for our 9 yr old to trek off there himself, but not too close for comfort.

The washing up area was indoors between the toilets and the showers and although there was no hot tap in the washing up sinks there was a hot tap on the opposite wall and you had to fill a bucket from there. Strange but not too bad.

I did notice that some of the other utility areas (of which there seemed to be plenty) had the washing up area outside, you must have been at one those Danescourtblue.

We are definitely considering going back to Le Logis next year so it is useful to know about the hot water thing.

The only minor complaint we had was that the showers weren't terribly hot, but I guess that was because the weather was quite a lot cooler than normal for the area.

Lizex - Le Logis isn't in the review section yet - How do you do a review if the details of the campsite aren't there. Do you have to put the details in yourself?

We have also just returned from Breuil.  Excellant site, met lots of nice people, broke a clutch and got a parking ticket!  Really enjoyed it and hope to return next year.  Memo for those who may visit Lede Plage.  Do not park in the Pompiers spaces.  38 euro fine is you do. Also have you noticed no Frenchman will park in the disabled spot if not permitted?  Reason, local gendarmes fine them (and you)instantly if not displaying badge.

We've just returned too - a very good site. I have posted the first review on UKCS now (not published yet) so the site details are now up if anyone else wants to add theirs.

Mind you, as it gets so well booked early in the season, do we actually want to encourage anyone else to go?!

Can you advise re pitch numbers so that we are not too near the kids play areabut not too far from amenities - taps washing up etc.  We would like a semi shaded pitch but don't want ot be under trees if possible.  I spotted a comment on another site re pitch 41 getting flooded??  Just how bad was the weather this year?  We were in the Vendee for 3 weeks and it was brilliant.

I have found a few sites where there is no hot water in the taps, and after running the cold for ages waiting for the hot to come through, you suddenly twig that it's never going to. Then feeling extremely guilty for wasting so much water, you look round for something with the potential to be the hot tap, sometimes, but not always, marked eau chaude.  All part of the experience

Pennine Plodderr, if you e-mail Monsieur Gagnard at the campsite he will send you a plan of all the emplacements, then you can select where you'd like to be. He'll explain which ones are sunny/partly sunny/shady. Having said that, some people have the same pitch every time we go, it's a bit like Groundhog Day ......! A lot of people reserve their pitch for nexct year's holiday as they leave to come home.

Just out of interest, when we you in the Vendee?

Unfortunately, I've forgotten our pitch number, and how the numbering works now!

A few (probably 6 or 7 pitches out of several hundred) were flooded the week before we went (last week of July) but this was because of exceptional rain this year (as in the UK).   We've been to the area 5 times now, and normally, the weather there is 25-35 degrees - hot and sunny in July & August, with perhaps the odd rainy day. It tends to rain at night with a big thunder storm, then clear by morning.

The owners speak excellent English, so probably the best way of getting the pitch you're after is to email them, or phone.     There are a number of pitches with complete shade, and many with one tree, so you can choose to pitch under it or to the side - they are very big pitches.

The play area is only directly next to about a dozen pitches, so you shouldn't have any problems getting a pitch away from there.

I've now posted the first review on this site by the way.

... forgot to add...

The weather end of July/start of August was not as good as usual. Most days were around 23 degrees and mainly sunny, but we had 3 or 4 wet days in our fortnight there - also a weekend of 32 degrees.   Having said that, it was shorts and T shirts every day as even the rain was warm!

OK - now you've got me thinking.  We were in the Vendee - Le Pin Parasol, from 23rd July until around Aug 10th when we went inland to the Loire aea.  During that first 3 weeks we had 1 day of rain (about a 3 suicide day - we have experienced up to a 6 suicide day lol) a dull morning and rain during the night twice.  The weather wasn't quite as hot as previous years but it was none the worse for that; however it was b*****y freezing at night - more so than previous years.    If the Royan area experienced worse weather and you were further south....it makes you think. Mind you, the Loire was dull and rainy. I suspect the on-shore breezes were what created the good weather near the coast and the poor weather inland.

Thanks for info re emailing M. Gagnard.  If we finally opt for this site I will do as advised.
