After England is Holland the country where Caravaning is most popular. (The caravan branch expect to sell more then 500.00 caravans this year in Holland. Like the UK there are campsites in all shapes and sizes. From Hi-di-Hi (6.000 places) to very small, rural  and quiet (15 pits). Caravaning is easy in the flat countries. The prices are compared to England moderate. For example 15 euros (10 pound) on a SVR or een natuurpark camping and + 30 euros (20 pound) on a full facilitated campsite (caravan, car,electric,2 adults). I myself love caravaning in the UK and prefer the smaller campsites. But if you want something different why not go abroad for a change. And if you check it out, you can even find a ferycrossing with the caravan free to go. If you like futher information abouth your travel here on the continent, just ask.

Hans

Thanks Hans, and welcome to UKCS.  It's nice to hear you enjoy caravanning in England.  We live in Yorkshire, almost in the Yorkshire Dales, and have noticed quite a lot of people from Holland in our region recently.

I'm sure your help will be very much appreciated by everyone on this website.

Hallo Hans, en welkom, van een Hollandse die in Engeland woont. Better keep it in English though!
Interestingly, a friend of mine, who lives in Tiel, came over to England last year, with their caravan and thought that English sites were quite a bit more expensive than Dutch sites. She also remarked on the fact that on the sites they stayed on, they had to pay extra for awning, showers, extra tent etc.
We are due to come to Holland for a few days at the end of August, to do some more research on my family tree in Middelburg, then we are off to tour France for about 5 weeks.
Never been to Middelburg, there is a site, Stadscamping Middelburg, which accept the ACSI card, have you ever been there?
Tot ziens!

Hi Mandy,

you can put an advert in the saturday holiday pages of the national newspapers like The Telegraaf, De Volkskrant or NCR Handelsblad. But ads are rather expencive in those newspaper.

In Holland there is the ANWB (like the RAC in the UK), They have a monthly free magazine for members called De Kampioen (The champion), and also the magazine KCK (abbr. for Camping &Caravaning Champion). There you can advertise directly to people who like caravaning. For information you can ask for futher via the E-mail: lezersservice at anwb.nl (readersservice)

Succes, and if something else springs in mind I let you know.

Hans

Hallo Ina,

Your right about the prices although in Holland after the introduction of the euro! England can better stick to their pounds! I have never camped in Zeeland so I cannot give you any advise there. But I just back from a short stay in Chaam. A nice little campsite in Brabant near the border with Belgium  (15 euros). Google 't Beekdal and you'll find every information you want.

 Enjoy your stay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hans

Kieran,

If you are planning to come to Holland you can find information at the TIC ( in Holland VVV) in the region where you like to stay. Further, there are several Eriba dealers in the Netherlands. To find out: WWW.Eriba.nl

Good luck!

Hans
