Can anyone help me we are off to France for the first time on Wed and have just bought an electric hook up mains unit. Do I need to have a converter to be able to use this abroad.

Many thanks

I have never had a problem using the elecric hookup without the need for a converter.  Happy camping.

It does vary from site to site, although over the past few years, most sites we have used have had the UK style hook-ups. It is probably still a good idea to have a converter just in case, although you may find that if a site has the older type connecter, they can lend you an adapter.

Yes, take one if you intend using the smaller Municipal sites, especially in the out-of-the-way areas. They're the ones still using the older plugs.

We found 2 last week. One charged 8 euro/night, the other 7/night, both including EHU !!

Just returned from France, used 3 sites. Only one had the same connector as we do. These were all four star sites.

Also out of the three only one had reversed polarity. So out of three sites, one was standard fitting, one needed adapter with reversed polarity, the other just needed adapter. Not really consistent.

We have just returned and out of the four sites we used, half needed the adaptor. I did notice that they had some behind the receptions though. Have a great holiday.

We have just come back from France and we didn't need one on either of the sites that we went to and one of those was a municipal site.
Have a great time.
