Why go as far as Spain? You can get a ferry to France for as little as £80 return for your car - and find any number of beautiful campsites all over France. If you choose the time of your holiday to be outside peak period (mid-July to mid-August) you should be able to find sites without booking, and just go wherever the sun is. That's what we do - buy a paper the morning we arrive, and head in the direction of the best weather forecast. We go late May/early June or late August/early September. You can get municipal campsites for as little as £5 per night, including electricity - or you can pay £30 or £40 per night for all-singing, all-dancing (or if you use Camping Cheques you can get some of the bigger sites for as little as £10.30 per night).
See the post - Advice for continental first-timers at the top of this forum for loads of helpful advice, and then just post on here, and someone will come up with some answers. If you want more details of any of the above suggestions then I'd be happy to give more advice!
