Wouldn't have thought it was necessary to book at that time. We usually go to France the last few days in August onwards for 5-6 weeks and have NEVER booked anywhere and have never had problems getting in on any site.
That said, it is a site which takes camping cheques, and therefore pretty popular, so what we normally do is arrive around 2-3 pm, ie earlyish and I would be very surprised if you had a problem getting in.
We've been on this site in early September and it has never been 100% full at that time.
Have a good time, when do you actually set off? We're off on the 29th, I hope the weather forecast is right!

don't know yet when we will arrive.it all depends on the weather in the loire.we sail on the 23rd to calais and stop the night in sangatte then travel down to sonzay the 24th(fri)spend a few days there as we have not been there before and then play it by ear with the weather probably bimble down on the 28th.as long as we are back in calais for the 10th sept we are not fussed where we go,just need sunshine.it's pouring down and blowing a hoolie here today so done no packing(oh well only have to work on weds so have plenty of time.

a bientot

Not long to wait until you go then, great. Yes, it's the best way to wait and see what the weather does. The weather near Bordeaux is usually pretty good when it is not good elsewhere, but this year France as a whole hasn't had the good weather we've come to expect.
Still, who knows, we may get an Indian summer, after all, it has been bad weather for so long now, surely we are due some good weather before long?
We are heading off to the Loire first of all, then just play it by ear, like you, and see what the weather does.
It's been the same here today, rain and storm. Anyway, this time next week, who knows, you could be sitting outside trying to get some shade from the sweltering sun! And we are not far behind you, off on the 29th.
Have a really good holiday and hopefully lots of sunshine. Drive safely.

no i would never book only reason we do on this site is because there are a few pitches we like , there is usually a lot of free space this time of year.
getting exited now only four days to go ,fingers crossed with the weather hope you all have a good time
