Hi all!

Hope everyone managed a wet free camp this year!!  Anyway, to next year.  We are thinking of going over to Brittany for our hols and are looking for advice from all you experienced lot!!

We live in the Northwest of England & do not know if it is bwetter to go from Dover to Calais, or from Hull to Zebrugge????? HELP!!!

We have a car and tow a five foot by three foot trailer, so how much extra will this cost??  Any ideas??

Can anyone recommend any sites in Southern Brittany??  Suitable for young kids if possible.

Basically I need all the advice anyone can give!!

We really enjoyed Camping Mane Guernehue in Baden near Auray. Great pool area with a long sloping entry bit which is always good for young children and some great slides for older ones. The Gulf of Morbihan is a beautiful area and it tends (although not always, as in some peoples' experiences this year) to get better weather than other areas of Brittany.

we are just a few miles away from you, near Accrington.

We always go Dover to Dunkerque with Norfolkline. We've just booked for 2nd September till 15th September £48 return. (that's without a caravan/trailer). sorry can't help with Brittany sites as we always go south west France.

We have been to Grand Metarie in Carnac twice now.  First time with 12 and 15 year olds and this year with two 16s.  They loved it, we loved it.  It is busy and large but seems to suit all ages and is very well run.  Water always hot, near lovely beaches, good cycling, pretty town and good pool complex with heated pools ( I say heated because the pool we were at this year in Loire said it was heated but was v v chilly).  The pitches in row D are super - quiet and mostly very large with some shade, some sun.  In fact, it is the best pitch we have had in France.  We did not use the entertainment but it seemed very good and finished by 11.30 prompt and then site is quiet.

This is the first year we used the tunnel and thought it was great.  So quick and if you turn up early, you get an earlier crossing without any cost.  Drive from tunnel was seven hours with three short stops for loo/petrol.

We live in Blackburn and have just returned from West coast of Brittany ,sailed from Plymouth to Roscoff cost us including site and ferries 940 .Driving any distance in France isnt like driving in UK ,we found the roads so quiet ,our hometown has more traffic .There will be cheaper options to get to France which we will be looking at for next summer .I was alittle apprehensive driving abroad but found it much less stressful and more enjoyable.We used the all inclusive service of The Camping & Caravanning Club who book everything for you and supply all maps ,phrasebooks etc well worth it.All being well hope to venture further south into France ,just  a pity our country is not as nice .
