Any thoughts on Les Ecureuils in Jard sur Mer? Looking to take our Camplet there next year. I've got 3 children 12,8 and 4. Would love some opinions on this site before I go ahead and book - so worried about making the wrong decision!

If you look on line at Canvas holidays they feature the site and there are some reviews of this site mostly favourable, we have been to this area and is really lvely we stayed at La pomme du pin which is a smallish site which does get busy in high season but from both sites you can walk into town and there are good beaches nearby.
We stayed here two years ago for the last two weeks in August and used one of Canvas pre erected tents. Lovely quiet site if that is what you are looking for. nice pool area can see it being over crowded in ealry August. Super U close by and some lovely beaches. La rochelle is a good day trip out as well as Sable D'lone (sp). There marina at Jard is lovely with some nice seafood restruants.
Stayed there twice, looks crowded on first arrival, but pitches are well seperated and large enough, all under trees and a bit dusty, but we enjoyed it well enough and are thinking of returning next year, it's probably the best site in Jard, and for me, Jard is the best resort in the area.
I agree with Jard being one of the nicest villages. We also stayed at Pomme du Pin and always promised ourselves we would go back to Jard one day. La Rochelle is lovely for a day trip out.

my favourite place in France. We have been staying there since my youngest was the bump - he is 13 in 4 weeks! We went last year via Eurocamp independent and got a really deal - summer hols - but have previously booked direct with the site(Sophie Bigot has excellent English) Excuse my ignorance as I don't really know what a Camplet has, but the site will hire you a full size fridge if you book early! Have a look at Angela Bird's book on the Vendee for laods of ideas!
Sorry, can't help with Les Ecureuils in Jard as have only stayed In Les Ecureuils in St Hilaire de Riez in 2000, further up the coast (good site).
Am thinking of buying a tt and have looked at the concorde. We also have 3 children 12, 7 and 2. Do you all fit in or do you need a bedroom annex? Any other tips would be appreciated.
Thank you
We've been to Les Ecureuils three times and found it to be an excellent site. The only reason we don't go back is that my children (now 6 and 8) have developed a passion for water slides - which is something Les Ecureuils doesn't have. What it does have, though, is one of the best indoor pools I've seen on any French campsite - which may be useful if the weather is a bit dodgy.
Our Camplet Concorde is still at Camperlands until March so I can't say for definite that the bedroom is big enough for 3 children. We did have a practice before we bought it and the bed is big enough if they sleep width ways. Saying that we did buy the extra bedroom annexe for storage more that anything. But it also gives us an emergency bedroom if necessary!
