I dont think the weather was that bad--twas cold in France July so we went down to Spain just sth of Salou--& it was 30deg sunny/cloudy with jus 1 day of rain--kept a watch on the forecast & went back up to the SW coast at Montalivet in the Gironde at end of Jul--twas sunny again but not quite as warm as it should have bin---the only really bad weather we encountered was in the Dordogne Aug 20 onwards--it rained most of the time for the next 3 days--so we started for home Wed lunch time & never seen rain like it between Bergerac & Limoges, down to 20mph in places-went on for about 5 hrs--but at least it proved out 20 yr old Eriba was waterproof!--I think the main complaint the summer in France--from the French- is it aint been warm enough---roll on Jul/Aug 08--
We arrived in ther Dordogne on the 16thAugust and we had two nice days, then we had heavy rain fro 4/5 days then a few cloudy days then 3 mega hot days. The day we packed up we had a thunder storm. Drove to the Loire for a night stop over and although it was dry thought it was cold.
Nothing to apologise for, we just spent 25 days in France and only got wet once!. rained twice on days we were travelling and had one spoiled day in Tours.
------------- Had a 2 year break from camping but ff to france this summer hopefully

It was a weird weather year - French papers seemed to be treating the summer as a national tragedy. I drove past the Dordogne for a week on the coast and heard about the rain on my return but in our week on the river there was only one day I found disappointing. I am feeling smugly lucky.
I'd be feeling even smugger and luckier if I was there now though - the summer sun seems to have settled in and the prices are so cheap.
We stayed near Royan for the first 2 weeks in August and had warm sunshine the whole time, although we did have a couple of wet mornings but by lunchtime the sun had come out.
We were also very lucky with the weather in May and came back with a fantastic tan - mainly because we didn't travel far from the site because of car problems. We were due to go back again a week last Friday, and had to postpone our trip, but now re-arranged for Friday this week. Just hoping the good weather continues - and taking another fleece, and a hottie for the cooler nights!
Tethers, how was Le Soleil then, and will you be going back next year. I personally cannot wait to go back but it was our first time their. Hope you had a good holiday anyway.
It was great. Arrived 3 hrs early for the mobilehome but that was 'no problem', kids disappeared unless they were hungry or skint. Despite its size the atmosphere was relaxed on site and the area has loads to do. Noise from Luna park was intrusive but not overly so in a lively holiday area. Kids have demanded a return and we are happy to oblige - 1st rule of holiday is parents will only have a good time where kids havce a good time - nobody gets a good time if the teenagers are grumpy.

How very true. We heard the go-carts late at night from the fairground, but never bothered us at all. Maybe the local wine had something to do with that.

We enjoy a contrast, a bit of noise in some circumstances makes the place sound alive and the Argeles area is certainly a lively area. Our second week is our quite week on the Dordogne where, away from the immediate area of the bar, you can hear if a moth bumps into a leaf at night and( outside Sarlat) in the day 5 cars is a jam.
You lucky lot we have wall to wall rain in June in France. I don't mind a few days with rain but to be raining from morning till night and then during the night and waking up to it again in the morning, soggy feet, canvas and clothes!!!!! No thank you.
