Preatty good this year,11 nights (May) in southern Brittany although the rain was preatty persistent and with 4 little ones..

Summer nearly 4 weeks isle de oleron costa brava but my kiddies are getting way to use to mobile homes and are starting to rebel against camping, shame.

Short break Luxembourge, best family trip of the year, great weather, site etc..

Oh and I sneaked away for 5 nights to go climbing in the Italian Alps ( Grand Paradiso National Park) and had a fab time even manageing to ascend G Paradiso though the Crevasses were big and snow bridges weak due to the warm Weather.

Roll on Next Summer I say!!

Pretty good for us too despite the weather - a very wet week in Dorset at the end of May, a weekend in Suffolk cancelled due to torrential rain, but a fabulous two weeks in the Vendee at the beginning of August.

Roll on the ski season I say!!

We had a week in Morbihan (Brittany) in May - started off a bit wet but improved midweek.

Three weeks touring France June/July - again weather somewhat wet until we reached the Med where it was hot and sunny - wet again on the way home.

Off to Paris next Month (can't wait) for a week

Hopefully a week in Chamonix in January

Then we'll think about where we're going for spring/summer 2008 !

sad its all over but looking forward to 2008. This was our 1st year in France with our own tent. Had a few weekends in UK ( purely for practice!!!) stayed at Toms Field ( New Forest, basic but kids loved it) Fforest Fields ( love it), Westermill Farm (Exmoor, now that really was a last minute trip to escape the Gloucester floods, no water so went away for shower/ do laundry!). Brittany in May ( Camping de la Plage, Trinite sur Mer) weather spoilt the week, lots of heavy rain and then Dordogne, Montpelier, Burgundy in August. Great trip ( had originally only planned Dordognebut the weather put pay to that) but we actually enjoyed the moving around, saw alot of France which was great.Didnt enjoy the packing/ unpacking bit so have gone for a smaller quicker to erect tent with option of adding a day tent for .longer stays next year Have some camping cheques to use next May and then undecided between Loire (Etang de la Breche) or Southern Ardeche (Chateau de Boisson) next August. Hopefully we will be going to Dominican Republic for a week in February minus the kids for a week of relaxation, must remember to be extra nice to the in laws!!!.

July-August in Sth Brittany. Two weeks the weather was brill, the last week was a bit overcast. Didn't go on a campsite once. Probably the best holiday I have ever had in my life.

Our summer was lovely.

Daughter got a weekend job so we initially stayed close to home - york for easter and Whitsuntide. Then off to France - via Zeebrugge, we stopped overnight at a lovely ex municipal site in Villedieu les Poeles. Then headed for the Vendee - 3 weeks at Le Pin Parasol, absolute bliss! The weather was unbelievable - not so hot that you feared for your health but a gentle breeze kept things bearable. A single wet day (said by a new friend to be a 3 suicide day!) and a couple of damp nights (don't ask). Some excellent company luverly.

We moved on to the Loire for our final week where the weather was mixed to say the least. Then home via another municipal site at Wimereux. A superb summer.

Not giving in yet - off to York again this weekend - fortunately there is on board heating just in case. We hope it won't be our last foray as well.

Role on an Indian summer and an early Spring.........

Did you meet my sister and her daughter as they were on Le Pin Parasol for the last week in July and early August. Her name is Liz Cliff and my niece is Hannah Cliff aged 15?

They and Bob were part of the excellent company on the site. Our daughter Alex and Hannah spent most of the holiday in each other's company. Give them our best! small world!

My first season but have done:

First test weekend in Croston near Southport

Midweek walking stop at Knights Stainforth in Yorkshire Dales and near Whitchurch.

Long weekend in Northumbria ( Proctors Stead)

Then the big France trip:

overnight municipal Langres, 5 days at Camping Esterel in St Raphael Provence and 5 days at Monplaisir in St Remy en Provence. Trip back with 2 nights at Troyes municipal and 1 night in Chateau Grandspette near Calais.

Fabo weather throughout and my favourite of all the French sites was Monpliasir followed quickly by the municipal in Langres, the latter is small and basic but you really felt you were in France.

6 months of ownership and I,m completely hooked, in fact I prefer being in the van to being in the house.

next year looking at a Holland tour via Hull/ rotterdam and if the bank balance will take it a Spanish tour in the summer.

All aided by the great advice of everyone on this forum of course.

Heres to 2006

cheers

John

We had 2 weeks just south of Poitiers at Les Peupliers . It only rained a couple of days and we had a great time. We met my son's primary headmaster on the ferry, they've been going to some site for 23 years (of course he's not saying where and I can't blame him!) so all holiday my son (14) was saying "... when I'll have been coming here 23 years ...", bless him. I think he probably will, he loves it there and has a social circle who were waiting at the gate for him.
I'd quite like to go somewhere else next year. Mean, aren't I?!

Liz

How's this for a holiday. Only had 2 weeks as one of my friends is still working and that's all she can get at a time. Called the holiday "3 grumpy old women go mad in France"

1 Clutch burned out on the way to Normandy, repair took nearly a fortnight as the part was faulty and thay had to send for another one.

2 Rained and rained and pitch was waterlogged so the the person who was sleeping in the annexe had to sleep on the floor of the van (2 berth)

3 other friend got sick with a kidney stone and ended up in hospital for a week.

Plus side lol

Campsite was perfect and owners very helpful, taking friend to hospital and staying to interpret. (Camping Haliosis near Mont San Michel)

Red pennant managed the repairs perfectly, arranged for car hire and taxis to and from St Malo

When I went to pick up the car the garage owners wife said "reminnd me not to go on holiday with you!!!"

Still caravanning though!
