Hi Platty
I see from the Brittany prices thread that you're from Wallasey. Not too far from us, we live in St Helens.
When our 5 kids used to come with us we used to travel Plymouth-Roscoff with Brittany Ferries but since PandO pulled out of the Western Channel Crossing Brittany seem to have really exploited their near monopoly. We usually travelled overnight.
If I may offer one other suggestion. From Roscoff to Benodet we used to travel across country. A good road and some very pleasant scenery punctuated by some pleasant little towns. We travelled south skirting Morlaix (D58) and then M12/E60 \utoroute for a few Kilometres and then south again (D785) and then on through Playben-Christ, Brasparts (our kids loved that name!!). West just after Playben (NB different to Playben-Christ) on the N164 and then joined the autoroute N165/E60 for the last few kilometres coming off near Fousenant.onto to D44 to Benodet.
The above is an easy route and only about 80 odd miles. We used to find that the roads were very quiet coming off the night boat at c6.00am. I see that you have a small child. We never had any problems with our kids on this route, youngest was 6 the first year we went, and did without any stops. The expectation and excitement of arriving at Du Letty probably helped relieve the boredom!! I got this route from AA route planner on their website. It used to give this route to the gates of Du Letty - it was one of their recommended camp sites.
I'm sure you'll have a super time at Du Letty. Our "children" (now 27, 25, 23, 21 and 19 years old would still come with us if we went to Du Letty. Every year we are tempted but there so many other interesting places still to see
To Mad Frank
The access roads in Du Letty are reasonably wide and tarred. We never had any access problems with our previoius 2 vans both of which were 7.5+ metres. The last van we took there was a twin-axle Avondale Landranger. The pitches are arranged in hedged open-plan "paddocks" of 6-8 pitches - ie, 3 or 4 pitches on each side so plenty of room to maneouvre on and off your pitch.. There are always lots of willing hands to help push the van into place if needed. One year we moved so that we were right next to the beach, very popular pitches. Our French and German neighbours would not hear of us hitching the van and insisted on helping us push it down to the new pitch.
Best wishes
Tim
