Morocco is certainly becoming the "Place to Go", but more think about it that do it I am sure. You see quite a few French solo [and huge groups] Mhome/Caravans but most Brits tend to go with the small groups like www.dertdetours.com
Saw this on another forum, one of many posts this time of year.
....."We visited Morocco in the winter of 2005 and had the adventure of a lifetime and we would dearly love to return back to the land of the smiling faces - .....etc etc.......Morocco is a fascinating country and we will never forget our time there or the warm and friendly people we met during our stay and due to our fabulous experience in Morocco we really fancy visiting another country with such wonderful charm, culture and beauty".

Hi Happybonzo
We posted at the same time. The small group organisors will take care of everything [and desertdetours will give free info]. And yes, I have been with them,Twice and going again! They did all the paperwork, insurance, ferry, guides, support truck etc etc.
Still not sure I would go solo. Morocco is a great and fantastic destination but unlike Europe when small thigs go wrong they realy go wrong, so great to have the "experts" along.
You will get all the fun and adventure you need in the mountains, plains, forests, desert and coast of Morocco.......no need to do the boring sand, sand and more sand of Western Sahara.

I am the expert sez he modestly. I have yet to get that badly in trouble although I have had to straighten a drive shaft on a VW before now.
Western Sahara-disputed territories is the next "Country" down from Morocco; not as in the western bit of the Sahara desert, if you get my meaning.
Half the fun of a journey like that is to DIY. Although I grant you having the security of something big and heavy to drag you off the soft stuff would be a reassurance.

Sorry, that should have been www.desertdetours.com
Most would not wish to tackle anything more than changing a fuse on the vehcile, let alone a half shaft. What I wonder would Mr Average do in that situation? On the last tour we did with DD their mechanic located parts and repaired a German Mhome [not their client] who had been stranded in a campsite for nearly 4 weeks. Most I think do not have the time, or knowledge, to dismantle a vehicle in a Moroccan [or anywhere] campsite.
Western Sahara, Mauritania, disputed territory or whatever, still not a lot there/access, just one or two roads, unless you are 4x4.
That earlier post I saw continues.....
Hi Ray
How wonderful to hear from you again. I can honestly say that we have never forgotten you and the kindness you showed in helping us cross the border and we very much appreciated it then and still do.
We still keep in touch with some of our Moroccan friends and they beg us to return and visit them - we got nicknamed Fatima Cous Cous and Ali Baba ha ha! The adventures we enjoyed during our trip to Morocco are too numerous to mention but the one predominant factor that lives always in our hearts is how welcome we were made everywhere we went and when we left it broke our hearts to leave the "Land of the smiling faces" behind us.
Hope life is treating you and all your family well and when I looked at your website I got quite emotional especially when I heard the Moroccan music and looked at your photo gallery and it brought back some wonderful, halycon memories.
If anyone is ever thinking of going on an organised tour with Detour then please believe me you wont be disappointed and although we went off on our own and did our own thing when we went to Morocco the samll amount of time we spent with him and his tour group was enough to show us just how knowledgeable and hell bent Ray is on looking after whoever attends any of his tours. If ever we were to go with a group it would definitely be with Ray and his team because they are the nicest bunch of people ever and they will make your trip fantastic and so memorable.
Take care Ray and thank you, thank you, thank you!
